The human Tim was pulled into Equestria 6 months ago and has been living with Twilight in her castle as a guest ever since. Once he became more comfortable with his new pony friends, he started to show them the human movies the shaped his childhood. Nothing could possibility go wrong with that, right?

Story inspired by taking Film Appreciation in College along with having to analyze even more movies for history classes leading to a morbid fascination with the idea of how the Main 6 would react to human movies made for Millennials.

This is basically a self-insert story. Less because I want to be the main character but more because 'Anon' is usually a young adult (18 to 25) and this character needed to be 40-ish and facing a mid-life crisis. Enjoy it for the train-wreck that it either already is or will become.

As a 'Weekly Movie Night' based story, I'm planning on having a new chapter every Wednesday until something shiny distracts me.

Edit: Also, due to the success of the story, I will be adding a Saturday 'Date Night' theme to justify publishing chapters faster.

Edit: Due a single recommendation of adding video games which I see as overwhelming support, I will add a gaming night every Sunday as often as I can keep up with the writing but it's a lower priority.

Edit: The occasional Interlude will be added to connect the story as needed for more emotional depth.

Edit: Family Only Thursdays and Guy's Only Fridays will be added. You guys are going to kill me.

This is my best story ever so I can't stop. The story must continue.

Hmm... makes me wanna watch the movie myself.

It's certainty a classic. When I wrote this originally, I had planned it as a one shot with the typical 'Anon' background, but then I realized that's there's a lot of movies that fit equally well and an actual list of movies that traumatized millennials if you want hints for future chapters.

I hope you get them to react to Treasure Planet, it's my favorite movie from childhood.

Disney movies, primary the Princesses ones. So Snow White, Cinderalla, Little Mermaid.

I've always loved reaction fanfiction. It shows how they would react and how they would feel.

12159827
Well, as a very late Gen Z kid, I probably would know nothing of the movies that they'regonna eventually react to :twilightsheepish: but I am intrigued to see just how different the tales can be back then compared to the ones nowadays.

Here's some suggestions

Jurassic Park is the big dinosaur movie that kids who loved dinos grew up watching

Dreamworks films hold a special place for a lot of people hearts for my case Kung Fu Panda is one my of favorite movies ever

Hone Alone a hilarious classic and good option for a Christmas movie

If you're interested in adding horror movies the ones that come to my mind that embody Millennium energy the most is Freddy vs Jason and Alien vs Predator both are fun and cheesy films though if you want something a little more classic you could go with the original Nightmare on Elm Street or Child's Play.

Keep em coming. I have a few movies in mind but I don't mind adding more to the list.

I'd say get some comedy in there like Peewee's Big Adventure or some of the Ernest movies. Also can't go wrong with some Monty Python.

1. The Secret of NIMH
2. Clash of the Titans (1981)
3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)

Well the 1980’s Batman movie was good

Some suggestions that might fit in with the concept of traumatic movies:

  • 1997 Titanic
  • Watership Down
  • Last Unicorn
  • Land Before Time
  • Pagemaster
  • Lion King

Oh! Reaction fics are my guilty pleasure, I ought to confess. Especially when done right!

I am not exactly sure if I am sticking to the theme here, but two movies I would love to see here would be "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and "The Green Mile", both of which have brought me to tears.

I'll keep an eye on this story and definitely leave a like. I am eagerly waiting for the next addition to this work!

ET the movie
Iron Giant
Mouse hunt
Harry Potter
Rush hour
Men in Black
Armageddon
Independence Day
The Highlander
Forrest Gump
The Goonies
The Karate Kid
Beauty and the Beast
Short Circuit
Back to the Future
Scarface
Poltergeist
The Green Mile
The Blair Witch Project
scream
Twister
The alien
The Warriors
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Carrie
Rocky
Adventures of babysitting
Police Academy

I have a whole list of movies that would probably traumatize a pony but the best for the main six to watch is the hateful eight

Why you gotta call me out like that, so direct?

I’d show them the same movies I show everyone that hasn’t seen them. John Carpenter’s The Thing, Jaws, and An American Werewolf in London

Question, are the movies limited to releases up to the year 2000 or could you suggest movies from later years, for example, Brother Bears, Shrek, etc.?

12160379
I was thinking late 1970's through the mid-1990's originally but I expect that some of the movies will be for fun and not just for the trauma's they created in a generation. So, the type of movie and year it came out will expand as the story does. The first 10 or so chapters will stay true to the premise before I allow it to start expanding to other things. The subtle jokes about Tim liking Twilight and wanting to date her will probably be a recurring theme also but I'm not sure it's going to go anywhere. At least... not for 20 or chapters. I had my own list of movies in mind and now I have a whole lot of new ideas thanks to everyone's comments. This is probably going to end up being a 50 chapter story.

I haven't seen that movie. 🤷

12160405
It's available on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and a couple of other streaming services. The movie is only 94 minutes long and it does have two sequels, though I don't personally consider the sequels as good as the original.

Hm, movies that scared me as a kid...
Land Before Time 1
Brave Little Toaster
GiJoe the movie [1987]
Transformers the movie [1986]
Robocop
House 2 the Second story (all time favorite movie but Slim scared the hell out of me)
Beetlejuice
Secret of Nihm
American Tale
Who framed Roger rabbit

12160425
It's clearly going to take time to make chapters for all these movies. A couple of yours are already on my list. I guess the more people comment want the want to see, the faster certain chapters will happen.

12160427
I'm not pushing, just throwing out what scared me as a kid.
And if I get a chance to get people to check out House 2, I'll take it. Its up on youtube for free.

I got suggestions.

1. The Princess' Bride
2. The Nightmare Before Christmas
3. Mouse Hunt
4. Home Alone
5. It
6. Titanic
7. American Pie
8. Jurassic Park
9. Forrest Gump
10. Ghost
11. Space Jam
12. Good Will Hunting
13. Boyz n the Hood
14. Happy Gilmore
15. Clerks
16. The Mask
17. The Sixth Sense
18. The Silence of the Lambs
19. The Shawshank Redemption
20. A Time to Kill
21. A Bronx Tale
22. Footloose
23. The Breakfast Club
24. John Wick
25. Flashdance
26. They Live
27. Weekend at Bernie's
28. Nacho Libre
29. The Pursuit of Happiness
30. Tremors

LotR marathon!!! Someweek hopefully

All 6 films would be a 24 hour experience... I wonder if Tim could pull it off...

Omg, that movie brings back MEMORIES, I haven't watched that since I was little...

I'm not sure if the movie i'm about to recommend fits with your theme, but I'd suggest "The Mist".
God, I can't imagine how they'd handle such a dark ending.

I've gotta mention the Iron Giant, provided that you (the SI) have seen it.

It'd probably be the perfect sort-of movie for the 6 to see seeing as it's got a pretty good theme and idea; "What if a gun had a soul and didn't want to be a gun?"

Only issue with the film that I have is that one scene at the very end of the movie that completely destroys the impact that the Giant's sacrifice had.

12160537
I'm willing to evolve the theme as chapters pile up. Besides, some of these recommendations are giving me excuses to watch movies that I missed and then write about them

Huh, strange no one's recommended these so far.

The original and prequel Star Wars trilogies, Star Trek, Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean, movies that ultimately contrast with what was given here.

For a much more emotional story, arguably even moreso than this, and would probably garner a certain Princess's interest:

Solaris

Fox and the hound would be a good one

I have had this idea in my head lacking the capacity to put it into words for years now. THANK YOU so much for helping get this out of my head. The literal only thing I would change is covering more scenes from each movie, but I most definitely and certainly need more of this. I await the next chapters with great anticipation!

Please DO NOT write a chapter with Watership Down.

That being said, this story turned out better than expected. Thanks.

As my first suggestion, I like to throw the movie Krull into the hat

and how about playing the movie: 300 Battle of Thermopylae?

12160659
This is the first request to not do a movie which makes it hard because someone else requested it. Is there a movie you'd rather see?

It's strange that no one suggested Interstellar.
Cried many times while watching. And the music gave me goosebumps

12160784
I'm sure that I'll throw in both Science Fiction and Anime at some point,

I would love if you introduced them to The Goonies. Other Great choices would Babe 1 & 2, Jurassic Park, The Prince of Egypt and Stand By Me

I'd love to see how they be written in reaction to an anime movie like Howl's moving castle or Spirited Away. Classics. Other recommendations for maybe later would be The Pagemaster, The Phantom Tollbooth, or maybe some of the classic horror films like Frankenstein or Dracula. Heh, Gremlins would be funny.

12160820
I didn't know that Babe had a sequel. I'll have to look into that.

Love this. A movie I would like to see is “adieu galaxy express 999” or anything from Studio Ghibli like “howls moving castle” “naucicaa of the valley of the wind” “Kiki’s delivery service” or “spirited away”. I will definitely favorite and follow this story you have a fan. I’ll also dm you for a story idea I have

For my suggestions, I think Gattaca and the first two Terminator movies would be great watches for these ponies. Though it depends on how much you think TIm is willing to subject our innocent colorful equines to. Both end with somewhat good endings, with Gattaca feeling more real because of it's near-future premise. But then, the Terminator series is known for its horror aspects and awesome action, though it may be too much for Fluttershy with the kills.

Not a childhood classic, but Puss in boots:The last wish is a masterpiece

12160840
The second is harsher in tone than the first. A bit more bizarre too. It’s just the right amount of bittersweet that makes a good addition to this fic.

Some potential movie choices:
- The Shape of Water
- Raiders of the Lost Ark
- Star Wars
- Howard the Duck
- Red Dog
- Twister
- Night at the Museum
- The Dark Crystal
- The Labyrinth
- Rock of Ages
- Chicago
- The Lion King (gotta continue that emotional trauma)
- Encanto
- Luca
-Ratatouille
-Spirited Away
- Monuments Men
