Rambling Writer

Our job is not to give readers what they want; our job is to show them things they never imagined. --Walt Williams

When it comes to traps, Daring Do has seen it all. Spikes. Pitfalls. Dart launchers. Pendulums. Sawblades. Crushing walls. Even a boulder or two. There are only so many ways ancient civilizations could kill a pony.

Triggers are another matter. Pressure plates are a classic, as are tripwires. But they're far more versatile, limited only by the crafter's craftiness. Sometimes, they get incredibly arcane and esoteric, watching for ponies in ways most wouldn't even think possible. And in her latest ruin, Daring faces a trigger the likes of which she's never heard before.

For in these halls, "dead silence" is literal. And enforced with great prejudice.

Been a long time since I last came across a good Daring Do story. Honestly contest parameters aside, the gimmick for this one made for some great tension. Kudos.

Knowing my luck I'd have tried super hard to be quiet only for the dust to tickle my nose or internal pressures deciding to release.

This is a good story and the idea of sound activated traps is ver ingenious. Also a nice detail that pegasus magic works with air and therefore also activates the traps. Good luck with the contest.

He ran his hoof across the shooter again, and put his eye to the hole what kind of idiot was he.

That was a great moment. :rainbowlaugh:
