Faith Rewarded
The pilots were so close to the two equines at the mouth of the cave, they could see their mane colors. The air whistled past them as they angled out at the end of their dive.
"It's definitely them!" One pilot shouted to the ponies on the other two gliders soaring alongside him. "Capture them alive for the Prime Enforcer! Use lethal force only if necessary!"
"Aye!"
"Roger—"
A blue shape suddenly darted out of the cave. In one swift movement, she scooped the two yelping equines up and dragged them away from the cavern.
"Huh?!" One pilot reacted.
"By the Queen's mane!" The central enforcer exclaimed, turning his head as Rainbow Dash flew past them. "It's the subject! Lay in an intercept course—"
The air filled with a high-pitched shriek as the hulking body of a hundred-meter long centipede flew into view. Dozens of giant, thrashing legs sliced at the gliders.
"Holy—!"
Two gliders shattered instantly, its pilots flying in seperate directions under a shower of metal and crystal shrapnel. Screams filled the air as the hulking arthropod stormed over the chaotic scene.
The last glider was veering in an ascending spiral, its wings buckling from the hectic maneuver. The two pilots on board shouted confused commands at one another. Several razor-sharp legs thrashed their way. They tried veering off towards the north, but the mouth of the centipede had found them.
With a sickening snap, the aircraft shattered in two, and the unicorn operators fell—flailing—to the grasslands below. They joined their other four comrades in a hellish attempt to ward off the giant creature's rampaging attacks with flickering bolts of magic from their horns. An epic battle went underway of stallion versus abomination.
Several meters away, hovering over the crest of a hill, Rainbow Dash hung in mid-air with Pilate and Belle dangling under each forearm. The pegasus gulped, gazing at the absurd chaos as a bulb of sweat drifted down her temple.
Pilate's ear twitched as his face grimaced at the blood-curdling noises.
"Oh hey!" Belle gasped, cradling the ancient tome in her hooves. "A new book!"
Rainbow glared at her. "Seriously?! That's it?!"
"Well, I... erm..."
Pilate cleared his voice and said, "Wasn't there... uhm... a forest nearby?"
"Right." Rainbow Dash pivoted the group east and sped the three of them several meters before safely depositing them on the ground. "I could totally use some squirrel therapy right about now."
The fugitives made their way towards Foxtaur under the crimson kiss of a falling sunset.

Last chapter -- Pegasus Master Race, and yes sun, plane, underside.
I heard of this one squirrel, flies an airship around, speaks in this really thick accent, sounds like a cool enough person, though. Maybe not quite what you're looking for out of a woodland creature as it relates to therapy, perhaps.

Sure, the symbol has a much more vague meaning as part of the larger mythology built into the universe, doesn't mean we can't break down the individual pieces! Doing so helps build a better understanding. We can infer the symbol's purpose, but breaking down its components helps put it into context and furthers our understanding of the world.

Well that was certainly thrilling there for a bit.
So I'm worried that I may be taking the beautiful writing in this story for granted by this point. When I happened across the last line of this chapter, I read it for understanding, paused a moment and went back to read it again in a sort of literary double-take. The second time through I noticed the beautiful imagry that really made me love Austraeoh and your writing in the first place, IC. Thank you again for what you do.

Great chapter - I like how Belle's all worried one moment and then fawning over a book the next, even while a giant centipede is duking it out with six military ponies just below them. And Pilate is ever the voice of reason. My next prediction is that they get captured by elves - I mean forest ponies (deer, elk?) in the Foxtaur. Onward!

IIIIIt's Dashie's evaluation time!
Um...wow. I'm...actually not sure what to say about this chapter. It struck me as kind of...weird. First there was that line saying "of pony versus abomination." That line didn't describe the fight the way I would expect Imploding to describe it. It seemed out of character for him/her. (At least tell us your gender so you're not a total enigma.) Then it seemed like the way the plane crashes were described built up to a big fight with this centipede. But then the last part of the chapter is written almost in Imploding's comedic style. It's such a drastic change I'n writing that totally contradicts the mood of the story just moments before.
I'm sorry, but...I didn't really like this chapter. It seemed very unlike Imploding to wrote something like this. These are my thoughts so far.

Hey look! I found a giant arthropod! Kind of sad that we didn' get to see if anything was on the other die of the wall, but a giant air vehicle eating creature is still pretty good. No complaints from me!
