After the finale I stated to miss straight Rainbow stories.

Pretty good, could use some fleshing out but still good

Me too. Especially when it comes to SoarinDash fanfics.

I always thought it was liken to the stereotype of black folks on a regular diet of fired chicken and watermelon. Just 'cause she's rainbow coloured doesn't mean she's gay.

Not that it's a major plot point, but she's straight in the fic series I've been writing since 2013.
Feel free to check it out if you're interested in human + ponies-on-earth stuff. :rainbowkiss:

Hoo boy. Rainbow has some Public Relations to work on.

It appears with the lack of Cloudsdale propositions in addition to Ponyville’s, that she might have to concentrate her search on some ‘uninformed’ stallion regarding the rumour… in the most awesome way, of course. :raritywink:

'Member back in the day when Faust and co. explained that the main six's characters were designed to break girly stereotypes? And then a decade later a different bunch of writers looked at this and unironically thought 'hmm yes two of these characters aren't traditionally feminine, clearly this means they must be gay'?

She grabbed the head of a background pony, whom some Brony somewhere has more than likely named, given an entire history and genealogy, but here will remain indistinct

This sums up the fandom so well. :trollestia:

But anyway. I'm not usually in the habit of reading rated M stories, but after stumbling across this one by accident in a sort of "in the right place and time" kind of scenario, I couldn't pass it up, since it always has kinda bugged me how quick the fandom universally assumed RD was gay. Not because I thought she couldn't be gay, but rather because they all assumed by default that she couldn't be anything else but gay just because she was tomboyish and so on, and...that's not how that works.

In my experience, whether or not someone lives up to all of the stereotypes of one's given gender actually has diddly-squat to do with their sexual orientation. I've met plenty of people of both genders who don't match the usual stereotypes of their gender (possibly including myself but I don't consider myself a good judge of that given the obvious bias) who were all very much straight still, and who many of whom would take great offense at it being assumed otherwise, much like RD here in the story. So as this is a real thing that can happen in the world, I have to appreciate this story for how it (perhaps unintentionally) raises attention to that fact.

In short, it just goes to show--just because they're a tomboy (or whatever we want to call the male equivalent), does not also mean they're automatically homosexual, and it'd be greatly unwise to assume as such without confirming first...because they may just end up surprising you by not living up to those assumptions. :raritywink:

I always thought the writers put AJ and Dash together purely to pander to the bronies.

12109009
Technically, they didn't even do that. They implied it, but they never formally confirmed it, the idea being to leave fans the freedom to choose their own interpretations.

Don't need to tell you which one ended up the favorite. :rainbowlaugh:

Yeah, even with that, I'm still on the side of "Appledash isn't canon".
My favorite headcanon is that she's staying on the farm while pregnant with Soarin's child.

My second "favorite" is that Granny died recently, so Dash is helping out while they all get new farmhands

And now the deluge… :moustache: wow, Rainbow Dash. What will you do next? :trollestia:

Sounds like either speed dating, or like dash is going to need a few boxes of condoms

Why does everyone now adays think that two old friends living together means their gay? Most of the time they have no one else in the world it's just companionship nothing more.

12109357
I certainly doesn't "confirm" it with zero room for interpretation, it's less "this is directly confirmed by cannon" and more "this can be implied by cannon". While this and a set of valentines cards might or might not have hinted at the idea, it's nothing someone should use as an argument for or against a piece of fiction made specifically for what pairing the author wanted to write about.

Heck if people wanted too, they could argue Pinkie only named her foal in honor of Cheese, and she's actually with another character, or even single. I don't know how you could write that in a way that feels fluid, but once again: that is up to the author to decide.

My only beef with Soarindash is that Rainbow would never live with someone who's favorite food was pie.

But hey, If they get past that I'm a full supporter.

Given the tags and the author's other works - I'd say the train has just pulled into the station, so to speak.

For legal reasons, this is all just a joke, I don't wish to impart my headcannons onto anyone's fics

:applejackunsure: "Princess Luna?"

:twilightsheepish: "Pansexual in dreams, Asexual in the waking world, she says it just isn't the same"

:applejackunsure: "Yer brother and sister in law?"

:facehoof: "VERY open marriage, It was Cadance's idea and Shining allowed it so long as he used a unique shielding spell to ensure the only foals to come out of it belonged to the two of them alone. I know because she won't stop sending me 'recommendations' despite my frequent requests for her not to."

:ajbemused: "Trixy?"

:twilightangry2: "She has rather explicitly stated, and I quote: 'Trixy will take anycreature that is not a lavender alicorn of recent ascension who is too goody-two-hooves for a real relationship' with the addendum: 'unless she's interested, if so contact me immediately'. End quote"

:ajsleepy: "... Discord?"

:facehoof: "you don't want to know. He told me, and I didn't want to know. Now I'm telling you: you don't want to know."

I love Atlantis the lost empire. And they discussed Discord's tastes at the sleepover

A favored counter-headcanon of my own creation is that, later in Rainbow Dash's Wonderbolts career, she arranged a marketing partnership between the Wonderbolts and Sweet Apple Acres's apple cider...of course, so that she'd always have first dibs on the ensuing stock. AJ makes her help with the chores so to make sure it's not all just free cider for RD. :rainbowlaugh:

“It's messin with mah head Twah! I mean, iffn RD can be the gayest gal in Equestria, and still be straight, then how in the hay are ponies supposed to be able to fahnd somethin they lahke?! Am Ah just dumb? Did the rules of how to find a guy or a gal switch when Ah want payin attention?”

As I'm straight myself, maybe I'm not the right person to be saying this...but as an openly gay community is still a fairly newcomer to the romance game at large, I suspect it might be more that everybody's still trying to figure out just what the rules are, and circumstances such as this just serve to demonstrate they haven't all quite been nailed down just yet.

At least it didn't do anything for Applejack with rainbow. Now she has great closure

Applejack, do you have a concussion your sound really weird or maybe just a really stuffed nose?
