a sweet idea of having to deal with the mortality

This was without a doubt one of your more thought provokin stroies my friend.

And i am deeply impressed with how you implemented the concepts you put in, like Flurry choosing who would live and whom would die.

Not to mention how you used the 5 stages of grief to form an guide the story's narative around.

And even if the FoY is now broken. I still belive that it might be possible for Shining to keep being around his Wife, Sister & Daughter forever.

He just needs to say for 11 Months inside of Flurry Heart's Fountain Hotel, so as to properly transform from A Mortal Unicorn, into An Imortal Alicorn.

This was a nice story and I kinda get where Cadance is coming from. Even if Flurry and Shining could justify the fountain, they probably couldn't justify the sex.

The only problem I have is that it's ... a little improbable that she was a 60 year old virgin.

What the flipperdeedoodle.

Not necessarily. Not only the fountain of youth aspect of her body, but her position as a princess would almost certainly put the kibosh on any relationship she had.

Death isn't scary, I don't think. I mean, getting olds a bitch, you're eyes go to shit, you're muscles wither... But Death... I don't know man. I'm already an abject waste and class A fuck up with the time I've got

"We live so long it's not even life anymore. We're not living forever... We're dying forever."

The moral conundrums in this story are really something. I mean, brainwashing, incest, cheating, forced end to relationships. It goes 0 to 60 and never lets off the gas with them. Quite funny in a disturbing way.

Lmfao that ending

All that work, for Shining to still die in the end under Cadance's hooves.

This story is a rollercoaster. A bit light on clop per your standard, but I'm not complaining. You still strike the right spot of just enough clop to keep the entertainment while taking the readers along for the plot, just as I like and always advocate for as the quality of a good clop.

I still remember "As long as you both shall live" by Trick Question, which I assume is the heavy inspiration for this story. But you more than delivered on an extension beyond the original. I wasn't prepared for all the heavy feels, philosophical discussions and moral choices, and wouldn't I love being surprised. I knew in advance it would all come back to your comedic signature in the end, but to be honest I actually dreaded going there midway through the story, just because all the philosophies and feels were too good to be broken by comedy. That's how good it is. Those descriptions on Night Light and Shining in their dying days were so real it actually scared me thinking about my parents.

Salute to the world's strongest writer.

Dying is easy.
Living is hard.

I waffled on a few different endings.
There was an entirely different version where Flurry and Shining start having a relationship earlier (but still, after she became an adult) and he plays Pound Cake's role in discovering her power. But then much of the first act focused on that relationship coming about, and detracted away from the intended main focus of the story's theme.
There was an alternate ending to the published version where she didn't lose her power, and they strike a compromise to make it a once-a-year tradition on his birthday to keep him forever young. But as much as I personally liked and even preferred that ending, it undercut all the philosophical and moral issues raised in the earlier chapters, as well as leaving open all of the social concerns.
Ultimately I chose the final scene as written, because it felt neater, without leaving as many loose ends or unanswered questions, and ultimately, it ended the story on a high note that was sorely needed after the previous chapter.

Well, no. It just means he/she can't swallow or you get a towel for the sheets.

Except that she was dating Pound Cake until his memory was wiped out. Flurry wouldn't need a long term relationship to get laid. I stand by my point that a 60 year virgin is far-fetched. However, it's a necessary plot point for this story so it works.

Well, I am thinking about Cadance strangling him right on the spot for the infidelity (and maybe the incest, but that could be a nonissue with her ).

I actually love the ending. Didn't expect it myself, but it resolves everything well without all the complicated implications and, as you said, undercuting the previous chapters.

The best part of waking up is existential dread:pinkiecrazy:

Same here. But 60 bucks for a book. Also a thousand pages with just that book with five more outlined. That's going from door stopper territory into I need something handy to beat errant badgers to death with land:twilightoops:

One does not simply drink from the fountain of youth without taking a dip in it

I respected your work before… I have no words

It looks super interesting, but I'm not into political dramas. I'm all about world building and fantasy.

I'm... not sure how to interpret that.

"Flurry! Would you really let random ponies..?" Shining winced. "You would whore yourself out like that to strangers!?" he asked with angry disappointment.

Signing armor you said no better there are 10 forbidden words to women and using whore outside of a playful or role-play situation or unless you're very familiar with a woman is one of them.

Princess Cadance stood on the other side of the dining table, looking back and forth between them. "I'm not even going to ask how this happened, because I already know," She scolded. They both just looked down at their hooves. "Part of me wants to be thankful. But what now? What are we going to tell ponies when they find out that their prince is looking and acting like he's fucking twenty again!?"

There is no way on celestia's green earth I would have been able to help myself from saying I'm fucking like I'm 20 too

Awe no big finish for them there at the end? Oh well... this was a good read, got unexpectedly emotional there. Definitely from knowing what a strong, virile stallion Shining and Night Light used to be, only to become so decrepit. Shame the fountain couldn't continue.

That was the story I was thinking of when I saw this one. The one by Trick Question was the one I read ages ago. Not that I wanna read this one because that one is fresh in my memories despite it being years and I don't need a follow up part 2 electric boogaloo style update to that one. But that's the one I was thinking of. Thanks!

"I think it only worked when I was... a virgin."

OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

:rainbowlaugh:

I think that as long as she's wet, it'll happen anyway

This has been niggling at the back of my mind for a spell, and if you will allow, I shall elucidate (yay, got to finally use that on my word of the day calendar) further.

I love life. In general and my own. We aren't here for peace and fuck up in my own I may be, I'd still rather be here being that then otherwise, whatever waits on the other side.

As long as no one else was hurt and as many people, preferably all but let's be reasonable, got the same and no one got hurt to see it done, I'd love immortallity.

But that wouldn't stop existence from being a horror show. As wonderful a world as we have made, a lot of it hits hard, so I can't blame people when Creation kicks the fight out of them.

Choose life, I suppose is my point. And have a ball
