A letter arrives from a mysterious mare. There are no names, no dates, only a place and an outpouring of love from a tender heart yearning for a new, beautiful unicorn in town. She asks for nothing from the receiver, save a reply with the promise of trying something new, both in life and on paper, from one pen pal to another.

Why are no characters?

For this story to work, it relies on the reader being as blind as possible going in.
If I could've avoided tagging a series, I would've.

Ok, I understand, I think.
An amazing story... I'm speechless!
I find it funny how not only did we publish within a day of each other, but also went the whole withholding another character's identity from the tags route, too. This was fun, in a melancholic way, and I definitely appreciated the epistolary decision and its framing. Good luck in the contest!
Ah, Rego, what a clever method. I am feeling emotions here. It's very melancholy. I'll restrain my usual thoroughness here to save the realization for those to come, but... You have an ability to write works that induce emotion in ways I've rarely seen elsewhere, and this is a prime example of that. Thanks for the fic; I very much enjoyed it.
Okay, you officially just tore my heart out and stomped on it. Thanks. Poor Derpy. Or Ditzy, whichever you prefer.
Cute story!
imho the thing you did where you didn't tell us the main characters' names until we already knew them worked flawlessly.
This was adorable and melancholic. Just enough hints to know who the characters were without telling it outright- and haaah, that ending was so heartwarming. Thank you for the good horsewords.

It seems the strategy played out perfectly! Nyheh!

I always try to let the audience discover something just before you spell it out. When done right, the reader feels like a genius and those endorphins just flow. Not bringing this up because Jarvy is here, but Ace Attorney is all about that and is a good study for delivering rewarding setups and payoffs.

I'm glad to be able to get you organically this time rather than knocking on your Discord door for prereads. Always feels good to see people enjoy your work.
I cried, a lot. I couldn't finish it in one go, I had to take breaks. This story was beautiful, thank you.
