What does this mean for Shining Armor and Twilight Sparkle?

Well written, and bittersweet.

Kudos!

Wonderful ending and as another said, bittersweet.

The subtle (or not so) world building of a council being the reason Equestria is this way *mwaa* chefs kiss.

From Chryssi pov Cadence looked like a, as she called her, disguise of a long dead pony. So shiny is dead of old age and Twily is probably dead or in hiding.

The parallels to the world of today here really come across - except the collapse we are undergoing feels like it's so much faster, not one of centuries but a few scant decades.

I really vibed with the mood here even as I wish I hadn't - it was beautifully evoked, despite the unpleasant world the two now inhabit.

At the same time, despite the crapsack world, I want to read more of Old Gods making their way in a modern time that has left them behind.

This definitely feels like the sort of setting where the ancient powers retire to their hidden glades and caverns until some young idealistic kid seeks out the old myths and legends to beg them to get involved again and help ponykind that left them behind willfully, yet clearly needs them once more.

Which is to say, hope you do more in this setting!

Just when I thought the good stuff would start, it ends
But it's still an EXCELLENT fanfic, I enjoyed it a lot

I really am sorry about that. With how much attention this has gotten, I'm gonna look into continuing it or doing a another book in the universe, but just this was hard to write cuz I'm really bad at writing romance.

Despite everything it was really good, I don't see how you are not good with romance.

Excellent story. Well written and paced perfectly.

You did a fantastic job conveying how gritty New Canterlot is.

Will be on the lookout for more works from you!

Fantastical read. Short, but powerful. Said what it needed to, and did it well.

I…kinda want more of it!

Thank you, just... thank you. This was really a good story, definitely to my "Favorite list."

You have a few capitalization errors with names, but other than that it's all good. There's a strong sense of melancholy and sheer tiredness here. Grudges mean nothing in this new world and you captured that feeling well. Thanks for the story.

An amazing story that kinda shows how immortality was a curse here. Despite their power and age; these two beings are ghosts, invisible ponies and changelings that cannot be comprehended or understood in any significant capacity, especially as they've both lost their crowns.
