Without reading the fic, I only consider this sort of thing problematic insofar as large age gaps are problematic. Like, there's always going to be one member of a friend group who outlives all of the others right? People have pointed out that this is an actual problem with "Twilight will not outlive her friends," because she'd likely outlive most of her friends even without her ascension and normal earth pony longevity covers the ones she wouldn't have.
