If nothing else, cropping an image yourself to remove elements that don't appear in your story is a thing.

That doesn't really apply here though. The normal image has Twilight blocking much of Chrysalis' front view. Cropping the image to have just Chrysalis and leave out Twilight would leave pretty much just her head.

I'll admit that I didn't bother looking at the original and was working off how you can't see much more than her head in the cropped version anyway. You have to admit just how much was cropped out here if the original was a full-body shot, and that getting rid of a second participant is a reasonable assumption of why.

For context, in the public version of this image (which can be found on Derpibooru), twilight's head reaches up to chrysalis' neck. This appears to be a crop of some Patreon alt version, since the upper half of her bust is visible here.
