Great start. I have some experience with the lore of 40k
As far as I know the Cuprum Lords are a fan chapter... yours I prsume. Can you tell me what their descent and specialization is? From what I have read I cant really catch anything that would tie them to another chapter/legion.
Your writing is very good and I have nothing to nitpick just wana read and know more.
This is also a very true to lore portrayal of space marines. Every single chapter would simply kill the xeno (going duble if they are shown to have warp potential) excluding if they show them selfs as natural by idk fighting the chaos spawn and not bothering them at all.
Please keep developing the space marines characters as most wh40k stories just have every space marine behave exactly the same wich is on point sometimes but they still have their own personalities and depth.

The Cuprum Lords, despite their attempts, have no clear answer on who their primarch is. Any attempt they take to find out leads to dead ends, with only their oldest surviving records mentioning some kind of connection to Guilliman, because of this many in the chapter believe they descend from him and refer to themselves as his sons, which is part of what has led to a less than ideal relationship with Ultramarine descendant chapters. The original chapter is from the 4th founding but after a catastrophe almost wiping them out, most of their history from that time is lost.
If by specialization you mean what their focus is, they mainly deal with stomping out rebellions and xenos.
The chapter has some other traits that I plan to show off in the story. Still, feel free to ask away about them.
I plan on developing the two marines more as characters, I hope you will enjoy it.

Sparks my interests eveen more. Whenever I hear unknown primarch I always think they descend from either one of the traitor primarchs or the 2 that where removed from the records. On a completely different note the boys in cooper are using bolter rounds against mostly harmless xenos so either they got a big stockpile or really dont care about conserving ammo, as far as I remember Astartes dont carry many mags on them, thats a huge reason why they even use mele so would love to see them discus logistics like their round counts, speare parts, stims etc.. but that will probably become a thing after they realize they are staying here for more than a week. Until then I will await the next update!
To be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if our two space marines are nothing more than unwitting pawns in some convoluted plan/scheme by Tzeentch or one of there deamons to destroy Equestria, so that all it’s anti-chaos/Harmony related artifacts are never used against it.

Good fic due to how accurate this is for the space marines. They will always shoot first and ask questions later with the exception of maybe the salamanders and Ultra marines which is why I despise most space marine chapters not because of their abilities or the plot armor workshop gives them, but because of how stupid they act in situations.

Holy shit what a start!! This is amazing! I can't wait to read more and I hope you don't mind me taking some inspiration from your story as well! Horror and Harmony is still a fledgling story and I'm pretty much making it up as I go but BY THE EMPEROR this is amazing. Valerian is an Ultramarine so I'll have to dance around the whole purging and xenocide to fit the way his chapter does things but your characters can show exactly the contempt and destruction space marines can do! Keep up the amazing work

It is interesting the different ways chapters conduct things, I guess the Cuprum Lords (i made them up if you wish to know) would be more along the standard attitude with how these two marines handle things. Valerian is certainly making the better decisions right now.
Oh this just made me sad. To be honest such a total victory against any strong unicorn or Alicorn for the average space marine is a bit much. While in physical strength a Space Marine is far superior, unless they have some warp control or are anything slightly similar to Titus, then although they would put up a great fight, their weapons, abilities and limitations would fall short in a battle against someone like Shining Armour, Cadence or Twilight. I feel like Locari's victory or in this instance, total victory, was a result of a grave underpowering of Shining Armour, Cadence and the unicorn guards' magic power.
That being said, your writing is amazing I really enjoy this chapter. In future chapters, if you so choose, consider scaling up the magic strength of ponies. Average Space Marines are weak to magic attacks. Only a few chapters and fewer special warriors have decent resistance to magic of any kind. I'm no 40k guru, but that's my 2 cents. If I'm wrong let me know.
Also do you have this story planned out or are you winging it like me?

I have considered the power scaling more, especially in regards to magic, I don't want this being a curbstomp. I have my plans for the other Alicorns. Looking back some better fight from the ponies would've been better.
I'm glad you still enjoy the writing. I plan on magic being a far bigger challenge for the marines, especially Locari. You are correct on the magic, or Warp in 40k's case, without a psyker of their own the best strategy is not giving a psyker the chance to act.
I have a general direction the story will go. I know how I plan for this to end and what the characters fates will be, and I have plot points already thought out. But for now a good bit of this is tossing ideas to the wall and seeing what sticks to get where I'm trying to go.

i hadn't expected to find a compelling Warhammer crossover after most other I've read, for your first story on the site you really manage to create a compelling story with the different perspective and a look into the lives of all these characters,
I don't know if the parallel are intentional or not, like how Celestia tells Twilight to share her burden and the seeing Locari literally doing so with Calsin over their dead friends.
Calsin being the more level-headed of the two really forcing the narrative like how he acted with Flurry Hearth, or worrying about Locari. You would think the care they shown could extend beyond one of their own. I'm curious what the Crystal Hearth did to Locari or what Cadence was hoping activating it would do. Poor Flurry

I have written two other stories in the past on other sites, but this one is my biggest attempt at one, so im glad you are enjoying it. I was hoping for a good old young and old warrior dynamic with the two men, showing off the different ways they interact with this odd world, I'm happy with how it turned out. ...Gotta be honest, I was expecting Meadow to live, with her rather quick end I realized that these are truer to source Space Marines than other stories.
Pushing insurmountable grief onto a demigod seem like a bad idea. Locari was already unforgiving enough and only after touching the hearth was starting to show some remorse. Imagine if something snaps with with and you end up with a chaos space marine. Luna should know this, guess she was really angry at the time.

The possibly Emperor, even now can only bring grief even to those who he raised. I had though princess Amore to be talking through the hearth.
The expanding plot hopefully shift the story's focus away from the astartes killing more ponies .

I can see them the two getting along in another life, sadly it isn't this one. We'll have to see if a warm greeting by the true enemy is enough for the marines to stop shooting first then asking questions.

I think this is straight up the best 40k/MLP crossover I've ever read. These guys feel like space Marines ripped straight out from some forgotten book I've just haven't found yet instead of the "whitewashed" ones we usually get because the author doesn't know how to work with something that's wants to murder everything on the planet.
