Ok, that was pretty darn touching. Definitely liking this one.

And now my cursed brain is thinking about how funny would it have been if she just up and admitted her entire past to the principle when asked:

"While we're out here, is there anything else you might like to talk about? Anything at all?"

"Well for starters I come from a land that's basically a fairy tale by this world's standards. Magic, divine powers, magical beasts, dragons, the whole shebang, conveniently transported here onto your schools doorstep by a portal that is linked to the statue right out the front door"

"Oh!, that lines up with the theories-"

"-On top of that everyone has a counterpart there, well aside from me I suppose, and those little symbols on everyone's clothing or accessories? For whatever reason in my world it's manifested on our butts, and despite being paramount to our right of passage into maturity our best scientific minds know nothing about how they exactly function"

"Uhmmm..."

"But wait! not only do we have counterparts, YOUR counterpart controls the very sun itself! All those times I use your name as if I am praising or cursing a deity? that's why"

"I wouldn't ever think myself as a god, I may hold a position of authority over this school, and the students tend to respect me-"

"Respect? try worship!, or adore in my case. I used to think of my Celestia as a mother, maybe I had actual parents, but nopony as ever seen them or mentioned them"

"I... don't know how to respond to that... do you see me as... wait. No-pony?"

"Huh? oh. yeah. In my world we are ponies, but with brighter colors and larger eyes than this world's species, Imagine my surprise when I stumbled into a world of hairless apes that walked on two legs"

Fwump!

"Principle?"

...

"Yeah I figured as much, great, she's fainted and now I need to drag her back in and make it look like I didn't knock her out... Whoof! I see that Cake addiction is a universal constant... Sweet Celestia I'm glad my world's princess isn't this helpless, If she went down this easily and relied on a damn student to sort things out all the time I can't imagine the nation lasting another 1000 years.

gvsgdgcv yeah Sunset overwhelmed her a bit, I'm sure that pony Celestia is more resilient, why wouldn't she?

Also great fic op I forgot how much of a brat Sunset was. Fantastic

Short but very sweet. Time heals all wounds, yeah, but all wounds leave a scar. A Celestia who’s had years to come to terms with a sudden tragedy… well, I can see that reflected beautifully here. A well earned favourite and upvote from me.

An enjoyably somber read, and one that does a lot to explain Celestia's leniency with Sunset even in timelines where Luna lived. Thank you for it.

This story stayed with me long after I finished reading. The ending especially left an impact. Can we discuss it? I feel like there’s so much to unpack.
