This story is a sequel to Well-Spoken

To Octavia's analytical mind, the first attempt made by Vinyl for the pair of them to do a podcast together was... an unmitigated disaster. It was poorly edited, full of snide remarks that didn't paint either of them in a particularly good light, and completely devoid of any discernible structure. Still, she had fun doing it.

Unfortunately for her, only the last point is of any importance to Vinyl.

Absolutely loving the energy here. Octavia's exasperated willingness to go along with Vinyl's capricious antics lends itself well to the banter while demonstration how strong the bond between them is; kinda reminds me of myself and my partner. Great first episode; this will make a wonderful addition to my weekly rotation.

Episode suggestion: a game of Two Truths and a Lie. What better way to learn something new and interesting about your significant other than with a fun guessing game with often surprising results?

MORE PEAK, WOO! :pinkiehappy:

Question for Vinyl: Out of all the shows you've ever played, which one went the most disastrously and/or hilariously wrong?

Oh I am going to be enjoying the this ride for as long as it lasts! I’m a sucker for these two, especially as a couple, and these antics are absolutely amazing!

The description reminds me of the Vinyl Scratch Tapes. Was this in any way inspired by that perhaps? Just curious.

Boy, I am witnessing The Vinyl Scratch Tapes 3.0 now, how cool is that?:rainbowlaugh:
And to both of you: you need to invite more guests in your show...once you get an upgrade of your recording environment, of course! If all that still happens in a closet, there will be a "fun" night of a three-player twister happening and I'm sure at least Octavia would be really averse of that idea.

And have a cool phrase I learned which you can type with only the top line of the QWERTY keyboard and also answers why Octavia isn't as social online as her wife:
"too pretty to tweet"

We can ask questions, can we? Local online Changeling is here to gamble the chance of her comment being seen! So, question here: Miss Melody, what are some of your favorite things about Trottingham? I'm sure there are quite a few lovely memories that come to mind?

"Disarming my position by being adorable is the argumentative equivalent of a tactical nuke, and you should be ashamed of yourself."

How does she know what a nuke is?

"...no, that would be a little weird."

Just a bit, yeah.

"Because you love me?"

"Because I love you."

I love how cute they are.

"That… is remarkably coherent for you. Perhaps there is hope for you yet."

Your optimism is inspiring.

"No it's okay, Octy. Seriously. It's just the fun facts of being neurospicy."

Yeah, that'd do it. I love that she doesn't get mad at Vinyl for this, as an aside, it's great.

"What? They're cute."

I mean, fair.

"A thousand dead linguists just turned over in their graves, but fine. An article of clothing, please?"

I love her dry wit.

"Uhhh... 'seventh cousin, thirty-eight times removed' ."

I, HOW many times? If you're that removed, are you even related at all?

"I know, it's so peculiar how randomly assigning words to gaps can make such a nonsensical story. I do however find the notion of neon green pizza rolls to be rather disturbing."

Agreed.

"Object or creature, singular."

"'Dumpster'."

"Action word."

"'Twerk'."

Ah. I see.

"...wait, commercials?"

Commercials? Who did you get to-

"Hey, everypony! Pinkie Pie here,

That explains it.

"...so you get your afternoon snack covered, in exchange for Celestia-knows how much free publicity you're giving the local bakery."

Yes.

"And by that, you mean 'get a setup that isn't inside a linen closet'."

In an ideal world.

"Best not to assume one way or the other, keep pronouns neutral until confirmed otherwise."

That's fair.

"However, we do have good banter! I do rather love that about our relationship, we're both capable of dishing it out to each other as bad as we receive it."

Phrasing.

Fun fact: I actually suffer from the same problem as Vinyl in this story. Verbs, Nouns, Adjectives, I know the descriptions for each. But for some reason, my brain simply will not retain the information of what description links to what form of word.

Huh. Neurochemistry is weird.

Question for Vinyl: What's your fave anime? I'm partial to anything Shirow, especially:

Tavi: What's your favorite arrangement for cello? I absolutely adore Schubert's Ave Maria, D.839! Did you hear the new ZEDD/Muse mashup, "1685," from the Telos LP? Check out the drop at 2:15!

ZEDD – “1685” (feat. Muse) – Telos (2024)

Octavia's comments and ideas are so much better than Vinyl's. You can really tell who applied themselves in university... especially in the linguistics classes.

Anyways, here is a question for both of you: "What is your favorite type of candy?" I feel like Vinyl is a taffy lover for some reason, but that might just be my mental image of her...

Tavi-swears are magic.

And yes, these are indeed the Vinyl Scratch Tapes :ajsmug::pinkiehappy:

Actually the Vinyl Scratch Tapes was not a thing I was aware of, until someone linked it in the comments section of this story's prequel.

Funny old world, but hopefully I can write something here that stands just as well on its own merits! And if it gives folks reason to think nostalgically upon another story, I guess that's good for both stories!

It's definitely it's own thing, no worries there. I did enjoy the first chapter and will be following the story. I was just curious if it was inspired by it :).

Lovely idea, will be looking forward to future updates.

Question for Vinyl: "Do you perchance happen to have a bass canon?"

Oh this is gonna be fun. Scratch, Tavi, how about a game of never have i ever. I want story times coming as you explain what happened to your significant other. Drinks are optional.

Oh for sure, this is standing on its own merits.

We are meaning it is the same in a spiritual sense - a spiritual successor.

In fact, I had completely forgotten about that old audio series until the other comments mentioned it.

" 'Suddenly, the doors to the saloon swung open with a loud errrr , and in walked a stranger. They were dressed in a bouncy tank top , and their cheeseburger backpack glinted in the sunlight. No one knew their name or where they’d come from, but they carried an air of funky confidence. 'I’m here to set things right,' the stranger said, their voice steady as a slingshot .

so Deadpool?

"No it's okay, Octy. Seriously . It's just the fun facts of being neurospicy."

"Neurospicy" is definitely going to be my new favorite way of phrasing that. :rainbowlaugh:

"Oh, sorry! Umm, a noun is a creature or a thing. Like a 'cello' or a 'griffon' ."

Well, more accurately, it's more a person, place, thing, or idea, and even then there can be extremely rare exceptions to even that, because of course English is just funny like that.

But for Vinyl and Tavi's purposes, it'll do.

Fun fact: I actually suffer from the same problem as Vinyl in this story. Verbs, Nouns, Adjectives, I know the descriptions for each. But for some reason, my brain simply will not retain the information of what description links to what form of word.

That sounds like me and math formulas. :rainbowlaugh:

"Hi! I'm Bubblegum! You both like music! What kind of music do you like that would surprise us and slash or your nestmate? Also! Have you listened to music from creatures that are not ponies? Like for instance completely at random changelings? Asking for a friend. Who is not a changeling. Bye!"

This was just as funny as the previous one. I don't exactly have Vinyl's problem but I didn't know what wasmeant until Octavia made it clear. English is not my native language and I never bothered to learn how those words translate.
Tranlsations can also result in funny language games given how illogical language is when examined.
