I've long suspected from the episodes that show Pinkie losing her "Pinkieness" that she suffered from at least mild depression and the endless parties and high energy were a form of self-therapy. Depression and I are old, old companions.

The episode "Griffon the Brush-Off" has Pinkie telling Fluttershy "Leave it all to your Auntie Pinkie!", only for Fluttershy to mutter in her quiet annoyance, "I'm a year older than you."
I'm seriously divided by this chapter.
On the one hoof, working with wild animals is dangerous, and even those who know exactly what they're doing often die from a single mistake or from simple mischance.
On the other, I have a very difficult time believing A) that Fluttershy and Discord never got together, and B) that Discord wouldn't have been there to protect Fluttershy in case anything went wrong with the timberwolf. Him popping in just seconds too late rings hollow to me.

Any decently-written story dealing with the deaths of the Mane 6 is going to bring tears to my eyes, and this was no exception. What I'm saddened by the most is how tragedy dragged each of them down, one by one. I know there's no such thing as a "good death" - no matter what, your loved ones will hurt and mourn - but I kept hoping that at least one of them would get the chance to go peacefully, surrounded by their loved ones.
