Sunset Shimmer finally got her hands on Twilight's crown, and was ready to unleash it's unbound power onto Equestria. However, when she puts it on she notices that it did not turn her into an all powerful demon like she was expecting. It's clearly because she wore it wrong and not because the physical crown is useless and the real magic comes from Twilight and her friends right?...........
Right?..........
Look, I'm just saying this AU story makes at least as much sense as the other way.
What?
What season does this take place? From FIM I mean. Discord got reformed, Chrysalis was given a chance, oh wait that probably didn't happen yet. There was Nightmare Moon though that was basically dark magic and she wasn't in the right state of mind. I think Sunset Shimmer was the first villain who was reformed who actually deserved punishment, all Discord did was have "fun", not overthrow Celestia.
I feel like this is what realistically should have happened. I enjoyed reading the story.
Yes, this is what should have happened, though if the crown is useless than why did Twilight decide to get it, especially if the scene where they tried to keep it away from her happened? I guess Twilight was just being a troll there and It's still the principal of the thing. Personally, I would have the crown have magic, just that it won't do anything evil like turn her into a demon or simply not work on anyone that isn't Twilight herself. Still, an enjoyable fic.
I do sometimes wonder what sunset’s plan was.

Apparently it's to use an element of harmony and somehow turn herself and a bunch of highschool students into demons, something that is an opposite of what an element of harmony is supposed to do, then form an army with a bunch highschool students with no experience in combat that also would have to deal with a different kind of body on the other side of the mirror and take over Equestria.
UNLIMITEEEED POWEEEERRRRRR!!!!!
It's a good and random story to read when you've got nothing to do. It's quite funny and cool at the same time, which allows me to ignore all the grammar mistakes.
12023514
Sounds less like a plan, and more like a tantrum.
"I'll make my own Equestria. With blackjack and hookers!"
12023514
Some people say she didn’t mean to turn into a demon and do all of that. Which I feel like is kind of 50/50.
12023574
Kind of

Well, all previous users of Magic had been alicorns. Considering Twilight became one, Maybe Sunset believed claiming the Element would trigger her own ascension as well.
Still doesn't explain why Magic reacted to Sunset at all, specially in presence of its actual Bearer.
My girl put on the arts 'n' crafts crown Twilight made out of paper mache and crazy glue and thinks she's the Burger King now.
12023706
Others? Weren't the only previous bearers the pillars and Celestia and Luna somehow wielding multiple ones together? Also, none of the pillars are alicorns. At least I am sure of that. Correct me if I am wrong but I am sure there have only been three generations of element bearers in canon.
12023688
Yeah, they should have made Sunset's goal more clear and also reveal her backstory of how she ended up like she did and her motivation in the film instead of outside it.
12023783
The Pillars didn't wear the Elements. They planted the seed which eventually grow into the Tree of Harmony.
Wait... but... Sunset DIDN'T want to turn into a demon...

The season 3-4 gap. Air date aside, you can tell because Twi's got her wings but can't really use them.
Nice AU.
12023706
That’s a good question. Makes you wonder if it’ll react to anyone.
12023786
Yeah, that sucks.
12023426
:'3
12023444
I KNOW RIGHT haha Spike is right for that
It is kind of weird all she needed to do was slap the thing on her head to gain immense power. I mean, if using it was really that easy any number of villains in the show would try to steal it the second they get the chance.
Probably would've helped if they mentioned how Magic works differently in the human world, hence the reason Sunset turns into a demon.

Now we need a fic were she had an immediate 'Am I the baddy' moment upon looking at her own transfomation.
That was awesome.
This was a great story and it would have been interesting to see the elements were just catalysts for their magic rather than housing magic in itself. Plus, how did Snips know about the elements or unless it’s idiots luck?
12024450
Sunset told him about it.
I have to say this actually makes a lot more sense than the ending of the actual episode. I guess the only two reasons that they DIDN'T do this that way are that 1. It would have been TOO anti-climactic (the same reason that the Princesses and the military are useless in fights - it would have been too boringly easy to beat the villains if the military were actually competent) and 2. There would be a lot less sequel hook (lack of Equestrian magic triggered in the human world).
Still, love the work going into the dialogue, characterizations, humor and general wrap-up.
"If it's just symbolic, then why did you spend the last three days trying to get crowned prom queen in another universe to get it back?"
"Look, you've been in one of these body longer than I have. You should know how much they can mess with your thoughts."
"... Fair."
Fun little vignette, though one that doesn't perfectly mesh with the source material. Still, thank you for it.
I recall hearing either Celestia or Twilight mentioning something about Equestrian magic working differently in the human world, presumably to handwave (hoofwave?) Sunset being able to actually do something with Twilight's crown.
This made me think of an AU where Sunset became the EQG Protagonist instead of Sci Twi.
12025197
I thought she already was the protagonist.
12024236
I wish they talked about that more.
