This story takes place in an AU where Cadance and Shining Armor never got together. The world is otherwise unchanged.
The Crystal Empire is one of the most peaceful places to live in Equestria. The populace is thriving, ponies are happy, and crime is basically nonexistent.
Or so everypony thought.
Today, Anon's beaten and bruised body has been discovered in the upper levels of the Crystal Castle. His wife, Princess Cadance, would surely be devastated to find him in such a state with no explanation. Fearing for the health of the Crystal Heart, Twilight and Spike realize they only have one option: Discover the truth before Cadance gets home!
