Bad Dragon

I write so that one day I may finally stop writing and be free, but these damn new ideas keep finding ways into my brain. I need to write more to vent them out!

Cozy Glow’s life was one of struggle and pain. But it was all just preparation for this moment. All her planning and scheming come down to the ordeal before her.

Alone against a Changeling hive... Has she finally lost it?

Written for Cozy Glow contest using the prompt: Of All Things, It Was Love That Cozy Needed.

Wait what?😆

That was... Something alright 😂

🤔

Anyway it was a nice read. But i think the hive wasnt set on a desert. More of a waste land? I could be wrong.

This story is a bit of a mystery. Stay tuned until tomorrow when all the confusion will be resolved.

So, I gather that this story didn't strike you as an ordinary one?

You're right about the landscape, it was more of a wasteland in the show.

However, that hive was compromised and the Changelings there turned.

There are more than one hive and the one in the story hasn't been compromised yet. It's also set in a desert.

12015025
Ooohhh, that also came to mind, but wasn't sure because i have no idea what time line this was set.... So this is post rainbow changeling? Will this be a long series then? Can't wait for the next chapter!

12015033 It's actually set between G4 and G5, but that's also part of the mystery.

12015037
Oh damn, the questions i have 😂....write faster please 😆. The plot thickens.

Only magic left huh... I see what you did there 🧐

12015040 All your questions shall be answered.

Also, your wish has already come true. The link to the second chapter is part of the mystery. If you're attentive enough, you'll find it; else you'll have to wait 24 hours.

If this is between g4 and 5 then I take it Thorax messed up as ruler. Does Cozy want to use her cuteness to take over the hive or will she try to get the current ruler to adopt her since this is one of those stories that has the same prompt “All She Needed Was Love”. Something I agree with. Well that and a fair punishment that can benefit both her and Equestria but mostly for her sake. I suggest community service she gets to help the families of Equestria without her Mind becoming broken after realizing she had been petrified for decades.

If this is between g4 and 5 then I take it Thorax messed up as ruler.

These aren't the rainbow Changelings, though. They're black.

'Tis another hive. One that has not yet been corrupted.

Does Cozy want to use her cuteness to take over the hive

It's a good idea, but cuteness is just one of her powers. Her arsenal of skills knows no bounds.

or will she try to get the current ruler to adopt her since this is one of those stories that has the same prompt “All She Needed Was Love”.

Now that you said that, I wonder if I didn't miss the trope. I didn't even know that a trope existed for this prompt.

Something I agree with.

She does need love, but does she deserve it?

Well that and a fair punishment that can benefit both her and Equestria but mostly for her sake.

I'd say getting stoned was quite the punishment already, but then again, was she really punished or was it all part of her grand plan?

I suggest community service she gets to help the families of Equestria

I'm thinking the same, just in reverse.

without her Mind becoming broken after realizing she had been petrified for decades.

If you stick around for a few minutes, the certification shall be addressed.

Does Cozy deserve love? Do any villains deserve to find friendship and reform. From a society standpoint no, they should be punished seriously to fit their crimes but the problem with that is that the villains who did the worst of crimes were given help and we saw the benefits. People may say she doesn’t deserve love and help but I say she NEEDS it. It’s not about who deserves it and who doesn’t because that is hypocrisy. You need to give everyone a fair chance because how can the main six or anyone say she can’t be reformed and benefit from real friendship and love if no one is willing to give her a chance first. The main six are willing to help someone who tried to alter time and a reality warper but not a filly. People say she’s beyond saving but how do we one really know that is no one tried ever. People say they did but they didn’t I know they didn’t. She may not deserve love from societies standpoint but I’ll be damned before I say she a child shouldn’t have a real family and happiness. I’m not some asshole who wants to see her get killed nor am I a hypocrite. I simply wanted a child to be given a fair chance and have a family who would love her.

Okay did not expect that. I know back in season 8 people theorized Cozy was Chrysalis.

12015821 I agree with you.

We as a society, don't execute children when they do something bad. Usually, they do so out of ignorance, nativity or pure stupidity. We are very forgiving toward children.

But I guess Equestria works by different principles. They aren't forgiving toward children at all. They stone them and cause eternal suffering to children.

It was Twilight's job to educate children and instill moral values in them. If there was a failure at play, it was Twilight's. Yet she took her own failure and made Cozy Glow pay the price for it.

Everything you said points to a discrepancy. This story solves it.

So, does Cozy Glow deserve love? Either way, she found it in the end.

She found it here yes. Just I can’t stand behind such a corrupt society and act as if the main six are perfect and did no wrong. People are blinded by bias and are loyal to them because how long people have watched em for. When Cozy came along it took only a few months for me to care more about her than the main six. If they are gonna go against their principles and act like villains then I’m gonna see them as such. Regardless of who tells me I’m wrong I know I’m right because I also know these characters.

12015849 Mane 6 used to stand for something. But with time, they became their own authority, and Cozy Glow took a brunt hit of that authority.

I also didn't like how Cozy Glow got victimized in the show. That's why I made her the hero of this story. Finally, she has some agency.

At first i thought it would be crysalis in disguise... I guess i was half right... Although... This kinda lack umph... 🤔 Perhaps its winding up for the next chapter?

12015837
We do not execute children? True... We actually do something worse.

12016125

lack umph

Is it because there was no fight scene or something else? What is missing? How could I go about introducing umph into this story?

We do not execute children? True... We actually do something worse.

We strip them of their rights and brainwash them?

12016127
Im not saying it's bad or anything. It felt like... 🤔 Somethings missing. Which can be a good thing depending on what will happen on the next chapter.

And yes, fate worse than death to the wayward children. Although brainwashing isn't bad actually. Everyone is being brainwashed one way or the other. Some brainwashing is good, hence WASH.
the problem is what you wash it with.

Think about it.

.... Oh wait this is complete already?.... Damn it.

You just made me read a cliff hanger. 😢

12016579 It's not really a cliffhanger. Cozy Glow lays it all out. The future is set. There is no more room left for another chapter. Everything is concluded.

I was hoping that the big reveal would fill that mystical something.

I do believe that the thing that makes us better than other animals isn't brainwashing. It's actually the ability to transcend brainwashing.

I believe there is a plain of logic that is independent of upbringing and brainwashing. Only few achieve that plain. The rest are just animals acting on instincts and dogmas.

This story raises even more questions:

Going back to the hymenoptera (ants, wasps, and bees), setting aside solidary species, we see 2 ways of establishing new colonies/hives:

Ants/Wasps:

A singles bred queen has to start a colony alone.

Bees:

Multiple new queens emerge, The new queens fight to the death, leaving 1 surviving new queen. The new queen goes on a maiden flight and breeds with drones from other hives. The old queen leaves taking half the workers with her in a swarm, thus leaving the new queen with the old hive and half the workers. The swarm finds a place, such as an hollow in a tree, for building a new hive.

The success-rate of bees and ants founding a new colony is about .1%. The success-rate of a swarm founding a new hive is is about 90%.

Cozy Glow does not try to found a new colony. We also do not see swarming. ¿How do new colonies come to be? Without a colony-founding mechanism, 1-thing-or-another will destroy colonies 1-by-1. Eventually changelings will go extinct.

If one is interested in voting systems, swarming bees use score-voting (sometimes called range-voting) for deciding where to build their new hive. For humans, I recommend approval voting for single-winner.

That's how it happened. There was a queen before Chrisaliss. She took half of the hive and went into an unknown. Chrisaliss killed all of her sisters; at least that's what she thought. She didn't account for a Princess surviving abortion.

Cozy Glow does not try to found a new colony.

She was supposed to fight to the death. But her death never came so the fight must continue.

¿How do new colonies come to be? Without a colony-founding mechanism, 1-thing-or-another will destroy colonies 1-by-1.

Cozy Glow will spawn new potential queens. Her mother instincts will kick in and she won't have the heart to kill them. She'll take half of the hive and move elsewhere.

They voted to swarm to Canterlot. That didn't turn out so well.

For humands, I recommend approval voting for single-winner.

Like a president of Earth?

The old queen leaving before the emergence of the new queens is dangerous; ¿what would happen if something would kill the new princesses or the new queen after she wins? The old hive could die.*

> "Like a president of Earth?"

Yes, that would be an example of single-winner.

* With bees, if the current queen dies, the workers feed royal jelly to female larvæ. Instead of developing into workers, these females develop into queens. They fight to the death. The survivor goes on a maiden flight andbreeds. She then takes over the hive as the new queen. The problem is that, for about a month, reproduction halts and the world is full of bee-eating predators and workers have life-expectancies of only months at best.

If it failed, it didn't deserve to survive. It's survival of the fittest.

royal jelly

If I eat royal jelly, will I become a Princess?

12021396

> > "'royal jelly'"

> "If I eat royal jelly, will I become a Princess?"

Only 1 way to discover. ¡Try it!

I love the interrobang.

12021398 Maybe royal jelly is how Alicorns are made as well. Maybe all the G4 Princesses had a battle royale and Opaline won.

Interrobang is love. Interrobang is life.
