Rylanor

A humble man, how spares a little time every day to write a story.

E

A guy watching the hobbit falls asleep and wakes up in the body of Smoug the dragon, at which point he realises he is in the treasure chamber of The lonely mountain and has no idea if he is in middle earth or another universe altogether.

I think your auto correct changed his name. It's spelt as "Smaug"

Well, this oughta be interesting

This is so good, especially the part when he goes to sleep, and sleeps for millennium.

Nice, please update soon, no pressure.

can you make him talk shit to someone

My mind blanks then instantly goes to the only place I know of that looks like this, Erebor, The lonely mountain. I can think of no other place that can look like this and with that realisation I slowly look down, my normal human body does not great me but the slightly glowing and red scaled chest of one of the most well known dragons in fiction. Smoug.

A few errors that REALLY need correcting:

Smoug

s/b Smaug -- EVERYWHERE (also need to capitalize the first letter, as it's his name)

realisation

s/b realization -- unless you're in the UK/Canada/Australia/NZ, where everything's spelled weirdwierd anyhow :derpytongue2:

favourite

s/b favorite -- unless you're in the UK/Canada/Australia/NZ, where everything's spelled weirdwierd anyhow :derpytongue2:

so I Leigh back down

s/b so I lie back down -- so, yes, this should be changed, even in the UK/Canada/Australia/NZ. Not even they are that strange to use someone's name to describe an action. :derpytongue2:

everfree forest

s/b Everfree Forest -- place name

This is off to an interesting start, so I'm going to follow it.
My guess is: he's sleeping inside the mountain that Canterlot is built upon -- if so, I'm so hoping he's only woken up when Cadance & Twilight are banished during Chrysalis' attack on the wedding....THAT should make life interesting for both Ponies AND Changelings! :pinkiegasp::rainbowwild::twilightoops:

Despite it not being written in The Hobbit, that scene where they tried to scald Smaug with the molten gold was my favorite scene, too. Watching it, I half-seriously envisioned Peter Jackson having Smaug immediately stop his hostilities and express his undying gratitude to the dwarfs for helping him with a nasty skin irritation that could only be soothed by the presence of gold in his scales! :pinkiecrazy:

I stalk forward hunting my pray,

s/b I stalk forward hunting my prey, -- to pray is speaking to a deity, prey is what predators eat.

archend stone

Celestia: "What's your name, mister dragon? :trollestia: "
MC: "Smaug. DOCTOR Stephen Kahn Smaug. :rainbowdetermined2:"

I hope he has a way to shrink himself.

Why? Let the ponies and other creatures of the land figure out how to interact with him. He's Smaug, he is supposed to be overwhelmingly large. I'm certain Discord could snap his talons and arrange tea time for Smaug with Fluttershy in her cottage but that is better suited to a silly crackfic.

I'd much rather watch what the other dragons do when Smaug pops up after his long slumber. Is he a (willing or not) challenger to the King of Dragons? Does Smaug even care about ruling the other dragons? (Sounds like too much of a bother to me) Is he subject to that staff's call when the current ruler of the Dragon Lands uses it to summon every dragon?

Overwhelmingly large?

Smaug was one of the smaller dragons.

This is an interesting story so far I look forward to reading more

I think in my mind that this must be a wired

(weird)

all looks the same as in the movie except I seem to be much bigger then

(than)

regular Smoug

(Smaug).

I find this odd but no odder then

(than)

Desperately needs a proofreader

Just a small nitpick but the Quote for Smaug is reversed, “I am fire, I am death.”

I like the idea of the story so far, looking forward to what comes next.

The grammar and wording could use some work but overall pretty interesting of a concept.

Nice start. But you should pass the chapters through grammarly or something.

Good chapter and great story! I'm quite curious to see where this can go.

Also, I know it was said by many others in the comments for the previous chapter and this one, and I'm not saying that to be mean, but it's not 'Smoug', its 'Smaug'. I don't know if smoug is a word because english isn't my birth tongue, but it's a bit confusing.

Yes, Smaug is overwhelming large compared to ponies. The story hasn't shown anything to directly compare this scaled-up version of Smaug (back at the start of the story, the MC decided to make Smaug three times larger than the movie version, if I recall correctly) to ponies or other dragons yet, but even Equestrian adult dragons are enormous compared to ponies-- going by the example of the dragon that Fluttershy stared down in "Dragonshy" to the biggest one shown that is Torch, leader of the Equestrian dragons.

:rainbowhuh: You seem to have ... an interesting ... editing function in your word processor. :rainbowderp:

Well, it's Fluttershy who's found him. :derpytongue2:
I guess with him so large and her so close, she can't see that he's a dragon? :twilightoops:

I didn’t know other dragons appeared in Lord of the Rings besides Smaug.

Man i love, buuuut i hope the author put it much longer to this story pls:fluttercry:

How big is the biggest dragon in mlp?

12049152
Dragonlord Touch is still probably bigger than even this enlargered Smaug. Touch is a beast.

None in the movies, but three other named dragons existed in the Middle Earth stories: Glaurung the Golden, Ancalagon the Black, and Scatha, all of whom were featured in the Silmarillion. All of them could talk and were exceptionally intelligent.
JRRT reversed engineered the dragons with the clear intention of showing their development and evolution, starting with Morgoth first creating dragon-like machines, then later experimenting to make living creatures with such abilities. Glaurung was a wyrm (a fire-breathing flightless four-limbed dragon), and Ancalagon was described as a winged dragon, but it's unclear whether he was wyvern or a full six-limbed dragon. Also unclear is how much involvement his lieutenant Sauron may have had in their development.
Little is known about Scatha, who was referred to as a "long dragon" (Chinese-style, maybe??). Smaug was evidently the culmination of those experiments, resulting in a winged, fire-breathing, six-limbed dragon.
Chrysophylax Dives was a dragon featured in "Farmer Giles of Ham", like Smaug, but that wasn't a Middle Earth story.

Ironically, Smaug's first brief appearance in the Peter Jackson movies was as a six-limbed dragon, but the second and third movies depicted him as a wyvern, which was both disappointing as it was puzzling for why it happened.

due to baseless misconceptions.

What? What baseless misconceptions could those be?

so I Leigh back down

Lay back down/Lie back down/Laid back down (any of these choices are valid, depending on regional preferences)
That doesn't look like an ordinary misspelling or typo... Were you using speech to text (STT) for this?

AH! SMAUG THE TERRIBLE HAS COME BACK FOR REVENGE!

As a big fan of the book, it's almost unfathomable to me that someone would watch that terrible live-action trilogy more than once, even more so that someone would make it a weekly habit to watch it. In fact, the only thing the live-action version has over the 1970s cartoon version is a better looking Smaug.

This holds the distinct promise of, perhaps, being an amusing comedy of errors.

Now good sir, l have taken the criticism of my spelling and many other things. As I should because it is feedback that has the hope of correcting my mistakes, which I do appreciate. What I will not have is someone blatantly degrading a perfectly good trilogy, while it is overshadowed by the greatness of the books and lord of the rings trilogy. It does not deserve such vulgar comments of a “comedy of errors”. While your username suggests this is your usual actions and may be some heavy sarcasm, I do believe it is not so and if it is I deeply apologise. But if it isn’t. Good day good sir and I hope you can find more productive things to insult then a fan fiction story of a fantasy universe of magical ponies.

Chrismas early today?:yay:

Funny and nice chapter to read, Celestia is going to have an interesting day for her.

I am fire! I am... DEATH!

you have my attention friend! :yay:

TFTC. Keep cooking friend. I need to see how Celestia is getting out of this one. Trying to steal another dragon's propriety :twilightangry2: :rainbowlaugh:

Ayyyyyeeaah this is Awesome :rainbowdetermined2:

But to short bro:fluttershyouch:

One critique I would like to point out is that you seem to consistently use "how" instead of "who".

Other than that nitpick, I quite enjoyed this chapter. Seeing Smaug and Fluttershy grow their friendship. Heh, gonna be hilarious if/when Celestia finds out that one of her ponies has been showing up to Sunday tea with a dragon of calamity for the past year. And something tells me that after this? Celestia is going to be a tad bit more discerning in how she answers her mail. Who knows? Maybe Celestia will come around to liking having another immortal around to converse with?

It would also be a bit interesting for things going forward... With Smaug being on the outskirts of Ponyville once cannon rolls around... Plus, now Spike won't have to travel so far to meet a friendly Dragon for advice on his heritage.
