Bruh you didn't need to add the "This day is going to be perfect" lol! I feel so sad now! XD
So yeah, Carnifex is basically introducing Beatrix to a time period she's not meant to be in, shaping the past that already was changed in the present. Does the Beatrix of this time period even recognize Midnight yet? This probably takes place between Depths of Oblivion and Paradise World.
Midnight's world has been changed so many times it's a Jenga piece now XD
She'll probably wake up afterwards thinking this a dream. Or memory wiped.
11992560
She'd recognize Midnight, for Beatrix/Cerise/Bellatrix this is right after Forbidden Manor At The End Of Time, but before Dearly Beloved, basically back in Beatrix's time they're preparing for the wedding, Shadow Scythe has been brainwashed and acts in a childish manner, the Manor Twins are taking care of the Manor in their absence, etc.
tzhat was fast as an upload
11992579
Thanks, been writing back-to-back!
11992598
youre welcome
11992575
Ah. But they're not supposed to be here. It would never make sense for them to be here, by choice, or if Carnifex operated on a present based schedule.
But of course, Omen doesn't operate like that, existing in a forgotten past, and Future Aba came to the past because of the aftermath of Future Omen. And the whole Lightendark prophecy was made with the future in mind.
So Carnifex definitely felt the Cult acting very very early (like this is before The Burning King or Lightendark, and Omen who's stuck in that musical box was doing these moves this early?), either because they were active early or because of the timeline being disrupted as events that should happen later are happening now. So he has taken the mission to keep the universe stable in the midst of these events that should've rendered this story and others not canon, which probably would've broken Beatrix's story. Cause non canon stories happening between two canon stories? Impossible!
And then Beatrix calls Demi Trix, and then she encounters Pri-MaTrix and Mediatrix and Pri-MaTrix says "Ah hey mom! Yeah I'm OG Mini Trix but I somehow still got a Demi version of me running around with you? Anyways, we both shouldn't be here technically, but some god above must've gotten really bored and another god is cheering us on while knowing we definitely won't survive in the future!"
Beatrix "wait what. Wait why we're in Midnight's world, who are you? You know the future-"
Pri-MaTrix "anyways! Remember! Reality's an illusion, the universe is a hologram! Buy gold, byeeeee!"
*She disappears*
Bellatrix: "ok Beatrix I know you were a bit weird and crazy before, but Goddamit Beatrix where the hell are we and what the hell was that-"
Then they get kicked back into the Manor, forget or think their adventure is a dream, and wonder what god loves memes this much XD
11992623
Lmao!
Basically, this is an explanation of Beatrix supposedly visiting Midnight's world before, which happened offscreen. Grayscale is doing the equivalent of messing something up so others can't do it first, with the hope he can buy time and eventually fix a destabilized multiverse. Of course, Beatrix and friends will lose all knowledge of this when they're returned to their reality, although there's also a chance in the future they may one day regain these memories that have been blocked? And of course, it will give Beatrix and Cerise a chance to interact with a different side of Midnight, since the moment he was pulled into the Manor his life has been absorbed by Lightendark events.
11992627
They will never meet OG Midnight Squared or OG Midnight Cubed, what was once meant to be Midnight's origin story and now what hopefully will be the origin story featured in a Moonlit Series sequel.
Beatrix between Vampiric and Depths of Oblivion upon entering OG Midnight Cubed's timeline (the timeline that I was originally making that was destined to be doomed by Beatrix due to her distortion, painting her or her wish as a bad guy) "Wait, why do I hear boss music This Day Aria?"
Midnight Cubed "No! it's the Purple Mare, Beatrix "Often (Afton) known as Beatrix Belladonna" Belladonna!"
Beatrix "... What???" *Looks back* "oh shit the Eldritch!" *Gets kicked out of the server by the mods *
Midnight "Beatrix!!!!!!" *Explodes*
Beatrix upon entering Midnight / Moonlit Series world after Depths of Oblivion but before or after Paradise "Huh, this place seems familiar?"
Midnight Squared "... Do I know you? I think I dreamt about you once."
Moonlight -.- "Midnight do you think she's cute?"
Midnight "Yeah?"
Moonlight *bonks Midnight* "to horny jail you go!"
Midnight "but I'm not a unicorn...!"
Beatrix "... He's cute. Server I now wish for him to be my brother!"
Server "wish granted"
XD
11992640
Lol, very fitting! Midnight has the most messed up timeline in Lightendark, while Beatrix is now so separated from her world she practically doesn't have an origin point. With what happened to Trixie, she'll soon have almost no ties left, only Flurry Heart still be kicking around that she's close to. (Bellatrix wouldn't count since her 'birthplace' was the Necronomicon.)
Cuantos capÃtulos tendrá esta historia.
11992659
Sorry if I misinterpreted what you posted, but if you're asking for how many chapters, I'm not sure yet. Several at least I imagine.
11992659
Si, va haber muchos capÃtulos, y hay otras historias que puedes leer que son buenos. Cómo la historia anterior que está en la descripción.
11992650
And that's Omen's goal, to kick Beatrix out of the timeline. And he already did half of that by Taco Belling her into a tree (I know that didn't happen but I would find it hilarious if that had happened in the scene)
But of course Carnifex is keeping her alive by making her exist in other times and keeping pockets of the old world alive and making her do a journey in Wanderers.
Midnight, despite existing in different timelines, is still one Midnight right? These Midnight's will never meet each other but instead are the same. He's basically if Beatrix wasn't OP but at the whims of others (which she is currently now thanks to Carnifex and Omen)
To be honest, I feel Carnifex could've been a villain with how much joy(?) he has playing around and inserting characters and distorting time, but it turns out Omen was eviler with his whole facade of being on the good side.
I wonder what would happen in the new Multiverse for Midnight. Like sure he'd probably get ACIV'd or get the Bad Changeling Timeline unless he was destined to eventually save the day with Moonlight (which could be likely if I make and finish a Moonlit sequel in time, got The Uprising to do first though), but I feel that since I've constantly been trying to make different versions of the same origin story and with Midnight existing in so many forms in other people's works, it'd be funny that there is a legitimate Midnight army because now, without a (one and only) Beatrix making him her brother, he now exists everywhere .
Zeloph: Oh God. THEY'RE EVERYWHERE! WHY?!
Bellatrix: This is the worst possible outcome.
Wispy: Yay! I got my own Hyper Stud in town!
Everyone *stares at Wispy*
Wispy: What? I'm horny all the time and I'm secretly lonely- You never heard anything from me!
*Locks herself with Cyber World Midnight*
11992688
Lol, an army of Midnight could certainly be useful! Yeah, Grayscale is a 'neutral' character, who has only taken sides to preserve the multiverse, however his methods have always been shady.
11992696
The army of Midnight's would not be unstoppable, but certainly annoying because their existence implies all the multiverse are somehow still connected when they're not supposed to be.
Omen "Am I forgetting something???"
Beatrix *banging on the other side of the multiversal mirror*
Oona / She'Ba "If you forgot then it's not important"
Beatrix *prepares a Black Hole spell*
Omen "Yeah you're right."
Aba ._.
Grayscale literally turned the entire multiversal collapse into a battle Royale and is saying "Skill Issue" to whoever didn't manage to make it before the next reset.
Grayscale "Shadow we literally revived you before the final circle! How in the four parallel universes ahead of us did you still manage to die?! Skill issue!"
Shadow, Zeloph, Moxxi, etc -.-
11992738
Well, Mortis pulled a nasty trick on Shadow Scythe and Zeloph!
If the army if Midnight were all at full potential, they'd be insanely powerful. Skilled hyper-stallion knights with a destructive wind Onoma? They could probably conquer a planet!
11992756
I meant when they were consumed by the void.
Carnifex "You literally became Aether King not just one important chapter ago (the rest was clop) and you already died?! BRUH-"
XD
Actually that is a very good point. All of them individually are literally the main character of their own story or a important side character or helper in somebody else's. If someone were to just simply gather all of them together or if one Midnight becomes aware of the others and begins rounding them up, then yeah they would be an *extreme* annoyance.
They'd basically be a hive mind of their own, which is funny if you think about it. And because they're infinite, it doesn't matter if they die, at some point they have to come back.
The more Midnight's team up, the more the hive mind grows between all of them, and causing the next appearance to be better or their potential to be better, mitigating their nerfs by proving fresh blood.
It's the Clone Wars XD
Like I think most Midnights are never powerful enough to deal with their changeling invasions alone, but two or three together probably could've. I guess there's a reason why Midnight's family rarely survived, because they could in theory take care of things together.
Like Thunder, Snowy, Midnight, Moonlight, Lightning, Night Guard, Moonflower, Fiery, they all could've taken different decisions that could've easily undermined Ocellus's efforts. And Lightning + Midnight probably would have enough firepower between them to sweep the Changeling Hive.
Like my original lore for Midnight was that he actually could've dealt with the Changelings, but it would require him to forget morals and focus only on hate and destruction, but then I eventually felt that it was too painful for him and made him too OP to be then weak afterwards or have the rest of the enemies be too strong or boosted by external forces.
But then again, that is a lore where he doesn't have incredible Hyper Stallion strength and only had swordsmanship mixed with magic that Luna and others helped him achieve. Like a top anime swords master. Like Sonic from Sonic and the Black Night XD
So I guess in theory a army of Midnight definitely could conquer a world. Two or three most certainly could topple a Changeling Hive, it'd basically be like if all Three / Four Swords were as good as Thunder XD
11992770
Yep, basically Midnight has potential to be the next Thunder Storm, but events have conspired to keep him down.
11992779
Yeah.
Midnight Army should be canon to the next universe. Let me help write it lol XD
11992781
Probably won't happen, prefer him working with Moonlight, Lightning, Cerise, etc.
11992784
I know. But there can be other Midnight's simultaneously existing now that there's no Beatrix making him a brother and unintentionally making him the only one to exist.
Though then is Eclipsed never going to be born or will her birth just be more natural? Who knows.
But like you said, an army of Midnight's would be very strong. So maybe limit the number or just focus more on how Midnight's life improved or not thanks to Beatrix no longer existing in the new universe.
Though again, would be funny if there's just an army of Midnight's. And that army could be aligned to anyone, for lust or for bravery.
11992787
I just prefer the looping Midnight's combining, like how ded Sombras combined in Depths of Oblivion.
11992791
Fair enough.
Each time a Midnight died in the new universe, they combine, and eventually a dimension that looks awfully too similar to the original fallen dimension appears.
But still it would be cool that each world has their own Midnight???
11992796
Well, while it would be interesting to see alternatives like a mage Midnight, unfortunately I don't think it would be good for the overall lore. Too many copies would rob him of uniqueness, and slow down the story needlessly, which is already confusing.
11992799
Ok, saying it like that does make sense.
Like again, if this idea were to happen I want to help create each Midnight, but then like you said, it'd be dramatically changing the backstory of many Midnights in order to fit them to a universe that may or may not just kill him or render him as a secondary character. And while it would be cool that Midnight is freed from being the only Midnight to exist, even without a Beatrix to influence all the Sombras and Midnights to fuse into one Sombra and one Midnight, I guess according to Omen's own plan, there will be no other dimensional counterpart anymore, no version performing better or worse.
It'd just be you, and only one shot at life for you.
*cue everyone including me clapping for Omen's grand plan XD*
Which again, prompts me to wonder if Eclipse will even exist since she was subconciously wished to become a counterpart to Cerise. Likewise without the Sombras that was slowly molded to just become one potentially good or bad Sombra, Cerise might end up being a different person.
A 1990s Cerise or something, depending on what era Equestria is set in.
Cerise be WAP'ing her foes from existence XD
So I guess this whole thread of a Midnight Army is actually pointless, because Midnight can't have multiple versions running around. Well, at least versions native to Lightendark. Because Omen's plan would just destroy dimensions that are related to Lightendark, so no Fimfiction Server getting downed and reverted back to 2011. But that doesn't stop say a Midnight from a non-native version to appear???
yeah no, I guess there is no such thing as a Midnight army or different versions of Sombra-
Wait, how will that apply if Sombra has to exist in a bunch of these worlds, along with all the other main characters? Do you and Nota just pick and choose "oh, here RD and Sunset can belong to the Cyberpunk world, and here Sombra can exist for-"
Like Omen wouldn't like if all the worlds were combined again, that would be more of a Carnifex idea. Carnifex is cornered but surrenders in exchange for having all the worlds be merged, because if not then Omen's plan would never work out. Carnifex "simply had conflicting opinions", like the King in Yellow, but decides that "upon the face of indomitable power" that he will join their little group.
Is Carnifex's game plan is to just annoy the fuck out of Omen so much that Omen relents and allows Carnifex to join all the worlds, which conveniently allows for Beatrix or PriMaTrix to potentially enter or something? Idk.
Because again, while Zeloph and Shadow don't require the mlp characters to exist, and some other characters just use mlp characters to a minor degree, Fall of Equestria uses both Sombra and Chrysalis, Cerise's world had to endure Chrysalis, the Eldritch-
The Eldritch won't exist here if the book is destroyed too?
Man, so many things to consider. And all because I wanted and then realized that a Midnight Army just can't exist.
Though it'd still be a cool idea, if for some reason Midnight somehow ends up becoming a paradox.
All the Midnights come together and summons their Messiah, Beatrix!
"I ALWAYS COME BACK- Wait that's not my line -.-" Beatrix says as she reads a paper from Midnight Plushie
11992806
Carnifex is trying to throw a wrench into the plans of the mastermind and buy time, but has no clue how to defeat an enemy he doesn't even see or know anything about. Doubtful he'd want to join them, since far as he can tell their goals don't align. As for where everyone ends up, canon characters included, I'm sure Nota will expand on that when we reach that point. Hopefully Eclipsed Heart will be around, since she's achieved an independent existence from Cerise. Poly-MaTrix appears to be unaligned with any faction for now, she's a wildcard.
Welp looks like a lot are going to be falling tonight.
Though props for Fiery for maintaining a cool head. Despite Ocellus's plan, him resisting the urge probably is the only reason why not everyone will die. Though a lot will. Probably including Ocellus' children since Ocellus failed to achieve a complete takeover since Fiery by chance decided not to eat as much. Maybe Fiery kills her himself since he's not only hurt by her betrayal, but her actions probably caused the fall of everything and by his accounts, there is no way to save the Crystal Empire or his dead companions anymore. And I guess Equestria after the fall of the Crystal Empire would be easy pickings since there's no more Shining + Cadence love to repel them.
Though again, maybe the fact that his men are not that affected helps with an evacuation. So it's kind of like Lightendark's spin where Thunder sacrificed himself, but this time it's Fiery's doing. Thanks Fiery.
Though I wonder how this story's trajectory will go. Because clearly, the way Carnifex's magic works is that if you're going to the next world, you have to be alive. Which thus means that if we're following by present lore, everyone should be alive but then get killed in the next. But that doesn't force a wish from Beatrix, nor causes Midnight to become depressed to go to the Paradise World. And remember, the reset of the multiverse probably helped his family come back, though Thunder still remained dead, but with an earlier cult presence, he and Sombra were revived.
The Cult can't achieve a complete victory here, otherwise they'd be free to collapse this world and cause a multiversal break earlier than canon. But they'd be damn close to. So close. Amazonia and other nations would help evacuate the Crystal Empire, but Midnight would probably be the only one left in the room who's still alive depending on how fast they fall or how fast the changelings reach the room. Even in drunken states I imagine everyone could probably fight with at least five seconds of warning, but I wouldn't be surprise if everyone suddenly found themselves tied or a sword going through their bodies and their respective partners.
Midnight could easily see Thunder and Cadence killed in front of him while the sword still manages to gravely injure him, while he could see his mom, Shining, Moonlight, Lightning, everyone else die, not even captured. Chrysalis already had a guaranteed victory, there was literally no need for a Cult with the exception that the Cult will just deal with the other nations. This was an ACIV styled victory, only much worse and bloodier.
Of course that's the worst case scenario, but a highly likely scenario is that Thunder and Shining are going to be killed almost instantly if not lethally injured without medical attention, along with Night Blade, and they probably would be trying to kill Midnight too while trying to capture Cadence, Moonlight, Moonflower, and Lightning.
And I feel that by the end of this story, there is no happy ending for Midnight, there can't be. His family is dead. The Crystal Empire and Equestria is dead. Chrysalis actually wins both here and probably would've in the present timeline if it weren't for the dimensions collapsing and her being a pawn.
I want everyone here to survive, but based on how the Cult and Chrysalis operates, I'm even starting to doubt if Midnight would even survive. He probably gets left for dead, which is kind of how many of his first iterations had, but much worse. Instead of a house caving in or just waking up and being told that everyone just died, he could potentially end up seeing everything for himself here. What person can go through that without constantly breaking down? What would be the point of saving this world if he can't save anyone else, or even himself? Again, I feel that the Cult would be so close with achieving victory here, this was the perfect world because in Changeling Timelines, Midnight's backstory is of total defeat. It'd be rare seeing a Midnight changeling timeline where he actually wins, let alone wins while everyone remains alive.
His world was doomed from the start, a perfect candidate for the Cult to exploit.
Thus Beatrix decides that she can't simply let this happen ad thus forces a reset. This is where she reflects how he is like her. A child born into a war that they can never escape from. A child born with dark powers. A child, who loses everything over and over, losing their own life and seeing others lose theirs.
It's the story of Thunder's son, Shining's daughter. Two equal spirits, two sides of a coin. I know how we once joked that Midnight could've been born as Beatrix's twin or sibling, or I think we once joked that instead of a male Beatrix, Shining's now redacted son from Shining Force 1 could've been Midnight, because Beatrix and Midnight have that much in common.
So now, Beatrix resets Midnight's life, with help from Carnifex of course. Clearly, if Chrysalis is given enough time to put even a single changeling, no matter how skilled everyone is, or how much time Midnight has to grow to potentially become an even stronger soldier, the world is doomed. And probably no matter what, it's meant to be doomed because some god can't make up their mind and Midnight's world constantly gets erased and scrapped for a quote on quote "better one" (Sorry Midnight!). But with the help of Beatrix and (you), while Midnight initially suffers much more because he loses everyone he cares at a younger age (which is bound to happen anyways), he bonds with Moonlight, he meets and marries Cerise, he goes through all of these adventures, and despite all these pains, and despite his mistakes the fact that even with him and his friends having OP Onomas that Chrysalis is simply going to yell "TRAP CARD" and hurt them again, though we do know they will survive thanks to End of Lightendark but probably get wiped by Fiery, this was a "good life".
But to be honest, Omen's new universe will still be better because this scenario leans more into the "this actually can't possible get more worse for dear Midnight" and "this actually can't possibly get much better for Chrysalis", thus a new universe for Midnight might even feature Cerise's world because again there can't be two Sombras acting, so while Midnight probably still loses his parents and sister, maybe he doesn't. Maybe they're just trapped in the hive, being exploited, but maybe they can still save them.
A broken, but happy ending. It's up to each player to put in as much effort into winning their scenario. Chrysalis can throw all of her energy at Equestria, but Sombra would love to undermine her, and eventually a Cerise could still be born through important events.
Sombra *stares at young teen Midnight Blitzer*
Sombra: "I want to take over your mind and make you a soldier, but for some reason... ah... maybe I'm getting too old, and Chrysalis is an actual bitch. Here, play with my daughter instead who decided to take a liking to you, train under my sons and let's kill that bitch!"
Midnight: "... You cursed!"
Sombra: "Yeah. And I can curse you with pain worse than death, so shut up and be my adoptive son"
Anime Title: A Evil King For Some Reason Does A Good Act And Adopt Me Into His Family So That We Can Kill Chrysabitch And Save Equestria! Oh He Says He Wants To Conquer It For Himself? Oh No!"
XD
11992814
Cool. Well can't wait for PoW!
11992839
Lots of great theories and speculation here as always! I can neither confirm or deny them at this point. Yeah, even Thunder Storm dropped his guard here spending time with Cadance, so Fiery has to try and play the dark hero. Beatrix and Cerise will of course be able to see a younger Midnight here, and of course all of them come from war-torn worlds.
11992852
Yeah, Midnight x Cadence x Thunder would be fun without the horrifying context that they will all probably die or be traumatized forever. Death till part will be activating very soon for a lot of these characters. ._.
Which like, would Midnight's Hyper Cum, in theory, actually override other cum? Like he'd probably be like Dion were Cadence following Ebony Ivory's ritual (which makes me wonder who'd override who then, Alpha Chad Dion or Bigger Hyper Beta Midnight XD)
But yeah, Fiery is the one person preventing total collapse, though it won't be enough to save. And yeah, Midnight, Cerise, Beatrix, all tied by war and pain.
I do want Midnight and Cerise to avoid pain, but given that they're under Fiery's / Burning King's influence domain, they probably have to eventually?
11992863
It's actually unknown if hyper-stallion semen can override another male's, but Cadance believes it's possible, and she's practically a fertility demi-goddess? Would be funny (but messed up) if Midnight fathered Flurry Heart here?
11992868
Chrysalis *smiles evilly*
Me knowing the two options Chrysalis probably would do to Flurry Heart ._.
yeah that'd be weird I guess? Midnight who will eventually become Shining's son thanks to Beatrix ends up creating Beatrix's sister? Unfair to Shining who might die. Idk, you spin the story however you want. I'm going to read it!
11992874
Thanks! I want to keep the series exciting without descending into nonsense of course, thankfully alternate realities offer limitless potential!
11992879
But this alternative reality is still connected to the lore right?
Question, if you run out of "alt realities" or "alt realities sponsored by Carnifex", will you actually begin doing alt realities? Mixing characters around and scenarios that would never happen? Technically that could be the case of Wanderers until the truth of that story is revealed.
We need... Happier endings for the gang. Which I think fits with Omen's goal (kind of, because he did set up zones of conquest for villains who will definitely take advantage of, subjugating everyone)
Chrysalis: Hey! Where's my zone?!
Fiery: Bye bye and into the frying pan my little locust!
Chrysalis: :0
11992886
lol!
No plans for alternative continuities since I'd rather develop the hell out of the Lightendark cast.
11992890
And if you somehow reach max completion?
11992891
Won't happen unless I somehow achieved limitless time, money, and energy. Really had to push myself to do all this recent work.
11992894
Ok.
Profitable Lightendark comic / book incoming? Just idea.
11992897
Unlikely.
11992904
Aw.
Anything else to the story to discuss?
11992909
Anyone you hope Midnight has sex with here?
11992911
Well he already has sex with Cadence.
Ah!
Beatrix
XD
It ain't incest if you're not adopted yet XD
Though Midnight would be sad boi and be Zeloph after Shadow loss depending on how bad the Changeling Invasion is on him and his family. If all survive that'd be great!
Bellatrix Present Day: "Yeah I agree Shadow, Midnight wouldn't have been a problem for me."
*Midnight absolute dominating Interloping Bellatrix, Beatrix, and Cerise all at the same time*
Bellatrix: "Not a problem."
Literally, Midnight could absolute wreck Shadow, Moxxi, and Bellatrix were it not for him constantly being balance patched every chapter lol.
11992922
lol
*Beatrix jumps Midnight's bones*
Cerise: "What the hell Bea?"
11992926
Beatrix be like "This Midnight is mine!"
Carnifex: "Your free trial of fucking with your sibling has expired."
Beatrix: "FUUUUUUUUU-"
I know this is a far more fantastical Equestria steeped in what I like to call the "Knights with Guns" part of European history without the guns. (16th-17th Centuries.) With 80's anachronistic tech here and there. And that this is porn with grim plot.
But the Crystal Empire deciding it was a good idea to throw a party after RECIEVING a declaration of war as if they where the frigging Empire of France after they declared another invasion to Africa for that gold, coffee, and goddamn bananas!
Also doesn't Cadance bother having taste testers in the kitchens in times where it would be possible that anyone in that party could be poisoned? Lacing the whole of the city's food supplies would have taken days, and hours in the palace alone. I know Ocellus could do it in the party within a couple of hours at most so she is fine.
A lot was overlooked, so much hubris on Cadance's part...
11992968
Oh hi! Nice seeing you again!
I think the prequel to this story said that Equestria had methods of detecting changelings, but I guess Ocellus managed to figure out a way to bypass this.
But yeah, given how Cadence just decided to get pregnant today anyways, it's clear that she has let her guard down too much, all thanks to Ocellus who's been conditioning them to be as drunken by lust as possible. And that will very much cost them.
I guess Ocellus is also their taste tester? Idk how their system works with the other maids, but the Twins and Ocellus are their personal maids, and since Ocellus also has the Twins wrapped around her finger, Fiery occupied with the Twins usually, Shining and Thunder with Cadence, and even Night Blade just pounding away, this actually was going to be an easy victory if it weren't for the fact that Fiery bonded enough with the Twins and didn't drink enough to realize that things are wrong.
Some info or insight from me, theorizing how my lore could connect or be formed here.
Midnight's world in short terms is always destined to be taken over by the Changelings. Well, that's an exaggeration, but when it comes to changelings attacking in any story, Midnight always loses his family. And in timelines where the changelings are The main threat, it doesn't matter if they have their guards up or not, Equestria Will get destroyed.
Like even if I wrote a story where Equestria somehow managed to not get their leaders swapped like in Season 7, or get invaded from the inside, I think Chrysalis can wait long enough, hear the Storm King wants to invade, hijacks that plan, and rains down using blimps. And use those rock things to knock out Shining and Cadence first.
Like of course, this unrealistic, but my point here is that losing to the changelings in Canterlot Wedding and losing everything to the changelings in a real war is Midnight's canon event. He can't change that, it's hard coded into his story. I based his name, Midnight Blitzer, from Blitzkrieg.
The Midnight Lightning War.
Not sure if I'm going to implement this idea still when I get to it, feels too niche, outdated, and Main Character for Midnight, but originally it was meant to be Thunder's premonition that a quick but horrendous war with the changelings was going to happen in Midnight's time. And no matter how much preparation is done, how much security is implemented, how much training is done, Midnight will lose everything.
I think this scene is meant to reflect The Canterlot Wedding, given that Cadence sings "This Day is going to be perfect". Another festivity turned nightmare, with no one to stop it.
Again, they probably could if this wasn't a Midnight timeline, but I agree that Cadence was overconfident. And there's still so many ways that they could at least mitigate the damage.
Like as a final act of defiance, even with blades going through them, Shining and Cadence could probably still say "Ligma balls Chrysalis" and do that love blast radius XD But of course, the story is not meant to be happy, in fact, even if Sharaz wanted to, it can't. This is Midnight's past, and everyone who goes to the Paradise World goes because something bad happened.
Losing everything is a good reason to go to the Paradise Worlds with memories set to 0.
Also Beatrix is here and she canonically changed Midnight's past. It wouldn't need to happen if everyone was doing their best, though it could've and would've happened anyways. A Changeling Invasion is that destructive.
Like, Sombra was still deadlocked with Equestria in his timeline, Nightmare Moon just needed RD to betray, Discord is just Discord, same with Tirek, but Chrysalis, who probably has worser odds than everyone else, just conquered in her timeline. There is no hope in her timeline, a timeline that Midnight's world is based on a lot.
Especially since my first clop story of his is based on the Changeling Timelines. But oh boy, I think Dr Sharaz is right on their take on how evil Chrysalis really is.
Sorry for just doing a long comment, I should've just simply said "hey I agree with that point", but I'm a Lightendark theorist and I have a lot of lore from my own story that I wanted to dump with sprinkles of speculation.
And again, nice to see you! I honestly should try reading your stories now that I finished with Sharaz's stories when I get the chance. How would you describe your stories? Favorite part from your lore being implemented to Lightendark?
But yeah, me constantly speculating and trying to see how close I can guess the plans of the future!

Basically the changelings and Crystal Empire are in a perpetual cold war where constant skirmishes take place, so while an all-out invasion is always possible, Cadance refuses to cancel an event they put on each year; she of course has no knowledge of the enemy's true numbers, as Chrysalis has been conquering rival hives to unite them into a massive army all over the continent. So unless Cadance wanted to shut down her entire country and have them permanently live in fear, I don't think she had much choice but continue trying to live her life.
As for the food, it was tainted by Ocellus on the spot over the day, as she can shapeshift a single nail and inject doses of venom that's empowered by the lust she's collected and intentionally built up. Only those in the local area were hit with this venom, however the mists are the work of the cult, which have a much weaker but still potent effect, as they borrowed some of Chrysalis' stock of lust venom and weaponized it to help the invasion effort.
It's true that Cadance, while generally well-meaning and kind, suffers from hubris though; that's a parallel I tried to draw between her and Chrysalis, as while one is driven by love and the other hate, they're ultimately both narcissistic, as being worshipped like godesses tends to make one vain and careless. She's become complacent, relying more on her 'Swords' and their miltary branches to deal with outside troubles.

Indeed, you understand the gist of what I was going for here. Yes, their magicians can detect changelings, but said changelings are always finding new ways around detection since they're very adaptable. And yep, Ocellus won the trust of everyone and conditioned them as she lowered their inhibitions. Foal-Bearer came the closest to sniffing her out, but had faith Ocellus would ultimately do the right thing, unaware how much damage she was capable of and assuming she was simply here to spy.
Again, correct, I attempted to draw a parallel with A Canterlot Wedding, of course just using it as a base like always. And yeah, this is Midnight's canon event, cosmic forces are marshalled to help make sure the basics play out. While it's not impossible to change a canon event, it's both extremely difficult and will have other dire consequences as the timeline attempts a correction.

Timeline: "Oh? Midnight's family somehow survived? Is this a specific clop story?"
Midnight "Huh???"
Timeline "No conditions for a Thunder, Snowy, Lightning shipping clop story has been found. Running process... Conclusion! Sending Beatrix here to being the Eldritch to destroy this impossible timeline"
Midnight ._.

Very plausible!
