I’m not a native English speaker, but I really enjoy writing and reading fanfics. I’m also a huge fan of Twilight Sparkle. I hope you enjoy my stories!

Her breath came in jagged bursts, her heart constricting in her chest, yanking her from slumber in the dead of night. This was all too familiar.

The nightmare, relentless and haunting, pounded at her mind with an ordeal she desperately wished to forget.

A monster that clung to her tenaciously, refusing to fade away. It wasn’t the first time, and regrettably, it wouldn’t be the last.

Twilight returned his smile, convinced that Spike was overreacting. After all, it was only two weeks—what could possibly happen in that short time?

Really?

Nights in Equestria were usually peaceful, but for Twilight, they had become a constant struggle against unsettling shadows.

Can't Luna enter dreams and stop nightmare's?

“I saw nothing,” Luna repeated, her expression disturbed. “I entered your dreams and found a void. There was no trace of a nightmare, no dream, only darkness. And a presence...ominous, which seemed ready to devour me if I stayed there any longer"

How is that even possible? It's a dream, is Twilight's dreams taking place in a different dimension or something?

“A dark void?” Rarity asked, her voice trembling. “And an ominous presence? What could be so powerful that even Princess Luna can’t see your dreams? Please tell me this is some kind of joke. This is absolutely terrible! We have to do something!”

Didn't Twilight do most of the work saving the Crystal Empire? And Spike gets all the credit while Twilight gets nightmares?

She lay down in bed, closed the window, allowing Owlbert to go out and hunt insects in the night. Then, she closed her eyes, letting exhaustion quickly pull her into sleep.

Isn't the name "Owlicious"?

“What if it’s a demon that’s draining my energy?” she murmured while looking at the ceiling, considering the idea seriously. Then she snorted and laughed at the silliness of what she had just said.

Could be possible.

With that said, Applejack began to gather her things, preparing to leave the Twilight's home.

"leave Twilight's home" makes more sense then "leave the Twilight's home".

Sure! Thanks, I hadn't noticed. I think autocorrect messed up the sentence!

Thank you for always helping me with corrections! I really appreciate it.

The Beast and the Monster

This story suddenly just reminded me of "beauty and the beast".

“What...? What is happening...? Where am I?” Twilight murmured, confused and unable to understand what was going on. Was she in a dream, or was it a dream within a dream? The sensation was so real that she began to question reality.

I'm now so confused.

“Ah, finally awake, little princess,” King Sombra replied with a malevolent smile.

... Hold on, Twilight should be a Unicorn, did Twilight ascend?

“Why can’t I wake up...?” Twilight murmured, wishing to return to the real world, feeling like she would die if she stayed there any longer.

A dream in a dream... That shouldn't even be possible. Can Luna enter dreams within dreams?

“King Sombra...?” she finally said.

Nothing is making sense right now. I originally thought it was the thing we kept seeing that was Sombra.

Twilight plopped down on her bed, determined that no one—certainly not her dreams—was going to mess with her. She needed a nap to recover from all this absurdity!

Maybe speak to Celestia and Luna. Have a little tea time.

“That wasn’t real, right?” she whispered, seeking solace in the sound of her own voice.

I still recommend speaking with both Princesses.

BSombra was turned away, sitting and gazing into an imaginary horizon. Twilight sighed, gathered her courage, and approached him.

*Sombra

Now I have even more questions, but I'm hoping they'll be answered without me asking a single one.

Twilight headed to the palace with a mix of hope and anxiety. After weeks of disturbing dreams and growing frustration, she decided to seek the help of Princess Celestia. The entity in her dreams was becoming more and more unsettling, and only the princess could offer the answers she needed.

Finally, about time.

“Are you sure you heard King Sombra’s voice? It could be that stress is playing tricks on you.”

Twilight could also mentioned the beast, and that she saw Sombra? Multiple times?

“Should I have told her that communication in dreams, where even touch feels real, often awakens strong emotions on both sides?” Zecora paused, then shook her head with a calm smile.

... Dang it Zecora.

Mrs. Cake emerged from the kitchen, drying her hands with a towel.

Hooves.

Mr. Cake laughed, wrapping his arm around Mrs. Cake’s waist and pulling her closer.

His foreleg.

"Did you really think there was any other reason?" he said with a frigid, contemptuous smile, the coldness in his voice cutting deeper than any blade.

Well that's cruel.

“Twilight, I... I’m just a fragment. A small fragment of what I used to be. What you see is merely a distortion of my body caused by my power. Many of my fragments sought to torment you in their own way. I’m shattered into thousands of pieces...” he added.

Ah, that explains the personalities.

“Seriously? Why does every fragment of yours talk so much?” Twilight said.

Well, besides the creature, though that could simply be because he simply didn't want to talk.

King Sombra sat up and opened his eyes, but he couldn't feel them. Nor his body, nor anything. Where was he? He looked around but saw nothing. He thought it was nighttime, but there was no light, not even moonlight. He knew he was no longer in the Crystal Empire. What had happened? Hadn’t the heart shattered him into a thousand pieces? How was he still alive, if that was even the right word for it?

Oh, a prequel. That's new.

“Yes. I hate her. So smart, so brave, ugh.”

“I-I thought she was... k-kinda cute...”

Huh... Interesting. Quastion, how many Sombra's are talking to each other? I believe it's 4? Plus the 5th one who hasn't talked.

He sighed, but for some reason, every time Twilight would forget everything upon waking up.

... Wait, are you telling me that Twilight went through worse before she started remembering the dreams and nightmares? Wow, that's messed up.

But it's probably not even half as bad as what I seen happen to Twilight on this site, but then again... I guess it depends what Twilight went through, on the plus side she doesn't remember any of it but wouldn't it have given her PTSD without her knowing why?

He sighed, but somehow, did he manage to make her leave? She vanished. That was strange. Could he make her wake up with what he had just done? And worst of all, why had he done all this?

Well atleast questions are finally being answered.

Sombra watched her, fascinated. Now he understood why his other versions had so much fun with her. Twilight was the type of pony you could bother endlessly, and it only got more entertaining.

Well that's not nice.

There was something else. When she entered this surreal reality, Sombra could transform his surroundings. He could turn the dark space into whatever he wanted at that moment, but only when she was there. Perhaps the pony's magic was the core of this power.

So that explains why she was so tired in that once chapter despite getting 11 hours of sleep.

Sombra blinked, confused. Her eyes? He had never cared much about them. Had they been remnants of his old magic? Now, however, his eyes were the deep red they had always been.

*His

And she vanished. Even with the little emotion he had left, he was concerned about whether she had woken up safely or if she was still frightened, sighing with worry.

Wait but wasn't there more dialogue here? Sombra tried to get closer but Twilight says "I said stay away" or something.

Once his other fragments disappeared from the place, he slightly opened his eyes. His crimson eyes suddenly turned green. He still had a bit of his energy left, and he would make the most of it. If he couldn’t prevent those beings from encountering her, he would limit their time. By forcing her to wake up after that time had passed, it was the only thing he could do for her now.

This explains a lot.

to be continued.

I'm excited to read more.

Thanks for correcting me! 😊

11983606
Oh, right! She isn't a princess here, My mistakes! I'll correct them, thanks!

11983742
Hi, yes!. :) There were more dialogues, but since it's only a chapter explaining his point of view of the situation, I wanted to shorten it a bit :))). Glad you liked the chapter!

Hmm, first two fics, featuring the same ship. Something tells me you have a preferred ship

11984148
You caught me! I’m definitely a fan of this ship

11984193
Not my favorite ship or even my favorite with Sombra, but I like it better than the other main six with him, never care much for Fluttershy X Sombra or Sombra X Rarity at all. The other ones just made no damn sense.

That, he would find out.

I've been wondering how they could enter dreams.

“How do you plan to do that? I don’t think they’ll cooperate with you,” he said, recalling all his other versions.

I don't think they have a choice. But I would like an apology for putting Twilight through hell.

Sombra’s grin widened at her reaction. “Ah, so you admit it—you care,” he teased, leaning in closer.

Pretty sure that has been established the second Twilight turned back for Sombra, which was like 5 chapters ago or something?

"Well, look what we have here!" a familiar voice called out from behind.

Really?

“I don’t think… He’ll need all of his parts,” Twilight replied, a bright pink glow forming at the tip of her horn.

There we go.

What would she do now?

Does the fragment have to be alive? I suggest trying to kill the fragment and then just force it to merge with the other Sombra. Sombra should have a body again AND he won't be some evil Tyrant anymore.

Fragment fight! Best frag wins control of the united whole!

Well this is depressing.

"Are you enjoying how things are unfolding? The story must be quite intriguing, hmm?" she asked with a playful smile. Then, her expression shifted to one of mild confusion. "Curious about why I didn’t tell Twilight about the dreams?"

Yes but I'm also curious about the 4th wall break.

"Calm down, calm down. Everything will be fine. As for that unicorn, don't worry, his soul will soon ascend to the astral plane," they said with a smile.

.... Are you fricking kidding me right now.

‘"This shall your broker heart replace, A tool of love, in its embrace. Though other feelings may sway the way, If love is your guide, you'll find your way. With the one you cherish, you shall connect, As long as love is the force you select."’

What?

"Hello! 🌟 Thank you so much for joining me on this journey through 'Dream's Fading Shadow.' I truly hope you enjoyed every moment of the story as much as I enjoyed writing it. Take care and keep dreaming! 🌠💫

I enjoyed the story, would have loved to see Twilight's friends reactions though.

Huge fan of the story! It's a nice ending with a hopeful tone - would love to see it continued a bit but it's fine enough that a sequel ain't fully necessary if ya don't want it

Keep up the good work!
