Rosemary needs to move out of her house. It has fallen into disrepair over the years, and with enough bits saved up, she is able to go a little bigger.
Luckily, opportunity knocks. Or rather, she knocks into opportunity.
A personal piece, dedicated to those who miss their childhood homes and cannot return.
Nostalgia meter has shot way up
Thanks, now I just spent 30 minutes looking up my childhood house.
xD I used to fantasize about buying my childhood home. But it's been torn down and a lot of the forest around it's been bulldozed to make room for new houses. *sigh* I didn't see it myself, I was only told about it. I think it's better not to, keep the memories as they were.
Nice little read though, if not a tad abrupt. I was sorta expecting a more traditional three act structure- but it's fine.
Your story makes me feel both nostalgic and sad.
I miss my old tree house and my hometown. There were so many memories there.
But I had to leave my country because it, along with its corrupt government, sucked so bad.
A while ago, I built my grandparents' house in Minecraft as I remember it, using old Google Maps images to double check. Now I'm inspired to resume my current project of rebuilding it in the latest version.
As she seems who be alone, consider "pick" rather than the underlined "point".
I feel like you were listening to Miranda Lambert's "The House That Built Me" while writing this lol.
Having... been in this situation not once but twice growing up, I feel every ounce of this story. This was beautiful and wonderful and sad all at once. Thank you.
When my brother and I were little, there was a small hole in our wall for a while behind our bedroom doorknob due to one of slamming the door at some point.
It was eventually patched, but in the meantime, when one of us got mad at each other, we would sometimes throw the other's toys down there. Dozens of small toys like Hot Wheels, Toy planes, Fisher Price people, crayons, etc, made in in there over time!
We moved out of that house in 2003, but I still think about that a lot. Because of the location, there isn't really any logical reason for someone to open that wall, so all of those toys are surely still there over 20 years later. Anyone renovating the second floor of that house in the future is in for a confusing surprise.
If these walls could talk...
One of my things i want to do on my bucket list is to buy my childhood home back. Great story the nostalgia hit like a freight train.
