There's a curious absence I've noticed in all of these chapters. Human-pony exchange has introduced tech to the ponies and magic to the humans. Yet we have yet to look at anybody involved as specialists within the other world for these domains. Earth ponies who use their natural magical affinity for plant growth (even excluding the crazy levels it reached in Make Your Mark) to fight desertification with a team of human ecologists. Unicorns who work in factories to mass-enchant products- for example, it's canon in show that ponies normally don't have to worry about food spoiling on trips due to enchantments on the bags. Pegasi immigrants who use their weather magic to create a summer snowscape in a southern state (alliteration is fun) as part of a job at a local recreational start-up business. For humans, any number of professionals teaching technology/advanced science/whatever at a university in Equestria.
The stories have been good, but so far, I've noticed they've all focused on the immigrants having jobs which could have been done by sapients within the world itself, with any pony magic or human technological know-how being irrelevant to the immigrant's job. The closest thing we had to an exception was the researcher near the Crystal Empire, and even that job could have been done by a sufficiently intrepid pony.
...I really don't mean to complain, and I am enjoying this. It's just a thought I've had, and I can't get it out of my head when reading the fic now, so figured I should mention it.
