A very, Judy Hopps, kind of character, much potential and energy with a drive to prove herself.

The fact that I was considering writing a story/collection of stories with this EXACT premise just a couple of weeks ago is proof we live in a simulation. Out of curiosity, do you already have the theme for each story picked out, or do you just come up with one on the fly?

It does not. Barnes looks more light your neighbour's dad than a proper, serious cop. Which is somewhat fitting for a small-town PD.
