Equestria is coming to its limits and evil is prevailing. With their world without any means of protection, except for the elements of harmony - they are defenseless. Princess Luna sets up and becomes the director of agency called S.H.I.E.L.D. With the world in the balance, she must get a group of extraordinary ponies together - to fight the battles that we never could.

When Equestria is in danger, who will assemble to defend it?

Authors Note:
Something else I had stuck in my mind for a while and I wanted to write it, purely because I thought it would be fun. And I do know that this kind of idea has been written before (Avengers styled thing) but I wanted to put my own spin on it. Plus a original name for the team, because of the ponies.

And yes, this idea is inspired by Avengers Assemble. Which was an awesome thing to see at the cinema. :3

Whilst I can't see something like this happening without Celestia being aware of it (and, indeed, pulling the strings from the shadows) it does strike me as in character for the most common fanon!Luna - the more hard-nosed and less-idealistic of the sisters. In fact, based on how writers like Aegis Shield portray her, Luna is actually a good Nick Fury analogue.

Time Turner/Doctor Whooves is, of course, entirely a fan creation, so you can do whatever you like with him, including turning him into Phil Coulson. If you want to pursue his fanon relationship with Derpy though, that might make things... awkward when the team first goes into a fight. If there is anything in this story to which I'm looking forward, it is seeing how Twilight (who has the tendency to get nervous and blurt stuff out sometimes) manages having (and keeping) a secret identity. Maybe Rarity will get to design a costume for a set of measurements but not know it's for Twilight Sparkle until she sees reports of "The Lavender Witch" in action.

Max Plasma is very obviously a sort of Hulk/Surge expy and Lyra will be Black Widow (!). It should be interesting to see what Derpy brings to the party except muffins...

I'm honestly surprised to not see Rainbow Dash on the list. Possibly they think that her public profile and the fact that her speed powers are so visually distinctive and are, of course, public knowledge would make it impossible to maintain secrecy about her real identity. That said, couldn't you say that about Iron Man in the Avengers? It's more likely that, again like Tony Stark, Rainbow's personality is considered unlikely to function in a disciplined team setting.

Somepony has clearly been thinking about this a long time and has access to intelligence capabilities that actually seem quite anomalous for Equestria (which appears to be in 18th-19th Century in human technological and social terms).

This is a very AU Lyra. Even with the little we have seen of her on-screen, she doesn't fit this pattern. That said, this is a fanfiction and if you can't play around with canon characters' personalities in fanfiction, what's the point?

I'll be looking out for further chapters of this story.

1443792 I thank you for your comments.

I was aiming to base Whooves around Phil Coulson in a way. And for the things about relationships, well - I was hinting it. So if I decided to go through with it I would have some foreshadowing in the background for it. Apart from that I was aiming for Max Plasma to be some kind of Hulk character and Lyra to be some kind of Black Widow styled character. As for Derpy - you will find out in the next chapter (or the first one, as these are prologues).

Derpy as the Hawkeye expy? :derpytongue2: Well, you get points for originality, at least. Maybe she's got a chameleon's sight - normally her eyes track around to give her 360-degree vision but, when she focusses them both on one thing, she has the most perfect distance vision and spatial acuity of any pony in Equestria.

If you need to hand-wave away the technology, maybe it is some sort of magitech - a combination of technology and magic that researchers that report directly to the Princesses have been working on for some time and that Luna felt should be kept back from the general populace or at least introduced slowly.

I'm still lobbying for Rainbow Dash to be the loudmouth/Iron Man expy... Maybe the Captain America expy can be an OC - a veteran of the war with Discord that was frozen with the Crystal Ponies at the North Pole. Maybe Candance's older brother, making him Twilight's Brother-in-law-in-law.

I just noticed the new title picture. Is my wish coming true? I'll have to look out for future chapters, won't I?

1486278 Maybe... :3 You will just have to wait and see.

Hmmm:trixieshiftright:. I myself an writing a work crossing over The Avengers and MLP:trixieshiftright:...:trixieshiftleft:I will track this and see how it turns out...:trixieshiftright:

If the guy is anything like the X-Man Havoc, then I'd prefer not having him walk around the streets where he could go nova if surprised and take out a city block. Additionally, wood is still a common building material in Equestria - a thermal-effect power going out of control could easily destroy the entire city.

That said, Equestria's SHIELD is as bad at earning trust as its human equivalent. Did it occur to anyone to give Max one chance to co-operate? You have to wonder about an agency whose first instinct is to lie and play a confidence game. Luna might be used to playing the Long Game, being so much older and being effectively immortal but she needs to remember that her pieces are living things with feelings and that, no matter how little she likes it, sometimes a full disclosure is the only way to earn trust and get the best out of your agents.

"Something tells me that you didn't just come here to invite me to become an agent of SHIELD, Ms. Sparkle, Ms. Heartstrings, Ms. Whooves."

"Actually... you're right."

"BUCK IT! I KNEW THIS WAS A...!"

"Calm down Max! Look, we know of your' curse', Max. We also know that your attempts to control it have been... only partially successful. If you come with us then I can promise the full resources of the Equestrian state to help you find complete control of these powers."

"No! I don't want to be a a lab specimen, locked in a cage forever!"

"Max, seriously; can you guarantee that it won't be necessary to lock you away forever? To keep innocent ponies safe from your powers?"

"I... no. No, I can't."

"Look, at least this way, you can be sure that, worse comes to worse, no innocent will be hurt and, in the meantime, just maybe you will be able to do some good. You see, we're not putting you in any cages just yet."

"But you might."

"Yes... if you agree that's necessary."

Something like that would have been another way to finish that chapter. But I thought otherwise as I wanted some material for what they can talk about later. That and I wanted to try writing some kind of action scene for this chapter. But the next chapter is going to cover this issue, with how they handled the situation. But thanks for your comment :3

This chapters a shorter one because I got to the end and I didn't think it was worth adding more of the story on this chapter. Meaning more for the next one. This was really to show that if you took another approach at something, then you might get better results. And after SHIELD caused such a problem in Trottingham, I thought this was really necessary to get things rolling again.

There's a reason why Princess Celestia selected Twilight to be her apprentice and it had nothing to do with her powers. Power is nothing without the intellect to use it and the compassion to use it wisely. Twilight already had the former and has been learning (slowly) to have the latter through her developing friendships with the ponies of Ponyville. Given her own fear of rejection and failure (which are her great Achilles' Heels), she can probably relate to Max's own problems and reach out to him in a way that others cannot.

A one-pony nuke; I understand his earlier crack about being a 'time bomb' now.

After the battle, just before Twilight makes her escape, Pinkie Pie corners her.

"Hey, is that you, Twilight?"

Nervously, Twilight adjusts her mask to make sure it's still on straight. "Um... No, no I'm not, Pink... er... Citizen. My name's classified but you can call me 'Lavender Mage'!"

"Whatever you say, Twilight! In that case, you can call me 'Pink Party-Pony'!"

Lyra sidles over as the Pink lunatic bounces off. "Is she insane?"

"Nope; she's Pinkie Pie!"

hey is this story going to have a main villain?

I agree. Human SHIELD was controled by HYDRA (Hail HYDRA) and HYDRA was used to doing things rough. If Luna's SHIELD is controled by HYDRA (or some sort of replacement) I want to see Luna's face.:rainbowlaugh:
Sombra as Red Skull.

I just relized! you bassed the look of Miricale Max from your profile picture. Even your profile is Max.

The knife belt made me think of Billy Rocks from Magnificent Seven.

Did you just ship Mac (so basically yourself) with Rainbow? Cause that's what it looked like.
