I didn't say to myself when I woke up this morning, "Man, I wish I could read some enriching Garble backstory that punches me as much as a heavyweight boxer with anger issues does."
But it happened, and I'm glad it did. It hurts, but I like it.
Good Dragon story. I love little ones like these especially since its hard to really get this in a pony story that it would feel natural. Ponies or other creatures couldn't relate to this(if this was like a cannon story to the show) and the worst part, this almost feels like something that would happen if we got little darker side to the MLP series.
The fact that a story like this actually made me think about Garble's backstory and care for the character in a sympathetic way should be getting an actual award for it.

Even if he's redeemed, still everyone hated him as if he's worst than Chrysalis or Malefor. Still even if he wasted his entire life over power and not his own but someone else's abusive ways, which it's the reason why nobody talks about him and give him no credit.
To the haters, before you even ask, why do you keep asking "Why is Garble still here? Garble is the worst, I hate this stupid dragon! I wish him dead!" Like shut up, if you got any rants to say, go ahead but stop wasting everyone's time for your controversial shit.
Great story, you did well tying together the different things we know about Garble. The fact that his father seemed notably more of a hardliner (perhaps even conservative for dragon society) compared to those of other dragons is interesting. The bit with Slam Poet was sad, but glad they're just good at digging lol.
God damn it. Don't make me care about Garble. Do NOT make me care about Garble.
Kudos. My only note is that 'Slam Poet' is much more of a pony name than a yak name, and a little on the nose, but thankfully you evened that out by putting him under the foot instead.
