Twilight Sparkle died, again. Was it Sombra? Tirek? She is starting to forget. Not that she cares anymore. Her victories never seemed to matter anyways, the villains always returned, as will she.
She will always come back, risen from the grave by Princess Celestia. Her battle will never end. The harmony of Equestria was built on her back. On her shattered bones. On her rent flesh.
And with each death, Twilight feels a piece of her soul grow cold and dark...

yes... it's all come together... finally i can retire...
What a selfish and manipulative b**ch!
I WOULDN'T be surprised that using that reviving spell on poor Twilight CONSTANTLY, will have agonizing consequences;
Like Twilight finally snapping and turning into a villain herself.
If you can't beat them, join them.
And does Twilight's Parents/Brother, Cadance, Mane Five, Spike, and/or especially Luna know about this?
Or was this a terrible secret that only Celestia selfishly keeps to herself?

Why do I get the feeling that's exactly Celestia's thoughts?
If your going to use Twilight as a tool and kill her over and over, atleast give her the help and care she needs!
This is indeed an interesting read. Kind of hard to imagine Celestia being like this, but hey, maybe she's just desperate for a break. Maybe she should take a vacation though.
I found your story when browsing through the other contest entries. A lot of people wrote about Celestia (and/or Twilight) but it is so interesting to see everyone's takes on these characters! I know personally my story was about Celestia taking said vacation with a filly Twilight but this is a story about Celestia manipulating a fully grown Twilight.
I wonder if they could be in the same universe? Sort of a before and after?
oof this Twilight is really going through it!
great description of Celestia, love her even though she should be terrifying here
augh purple feathers!
given the amplitude of energy being thrown around in that battle, the idea that Twilight actually did die and had to be resurrected makes more sense than getting out of it with barely a scratch as in canon
indeed Twilight and her friends going from a bunch of friends living in a small town who want to go to a Gala to a superhero team that has to be dragged out to defeat the latest Equestria-threatening villain again and again really does make you think
and not to mention her suddenly retiring and leaving everything in Twilight’s hooves at the end!
and aww, Celestia has Twilight right where she wants her! really makes you think about the immortal sovereign whose plans are measured in centuries. and indeed a horrifying fate for Twilight who is given just enough comfort and reason to keep on going in this suffering. thank you for writing!
