“Sunset, what happened to Twilight wasn’t-”

Stop.” Her command was quiet, calm, but there was a force behind it that made Rainbow get the message immediately.

Love this. The idea that watching Midnight's creation was as traumatic for Sunset as her own transformation has always been a favorite of mine.

Excellent, intense start. Looking forward to where this goes.

“She’s the glue when we need to stick together, and the wedge when we shouldn’t.”

I really like this line. Don't know. It's describes Fluttershy well, and I just thought it was clever. Just a neat paradoxical role she plays.

“Anyway, what were we talking a-oh right!” Sunset snapped her fingers. “Rarity is… I don’t know, the mouth?”

“The what now?” Dash raised an eyebrow, looking a tad flushed.

Pfft, ha! Perfect.

I really like the idea that Sunset's friends grew closer together in her absence, and it does make me wonder if they all would have tried to stick close together had she decided to stay. I mean, they would have to because of the magical anomalies, but they wouldn't feel as bad for living long distances because they had a rock solid friendship, and distance wouldn't put a wedge in it. But in this scenario? That'd be a death sentence.

And it's kind of sad and ironic that they all became closer when she left. It's almost as if she's died to them and what remains is just a flickering ember they keep almost extinguishing by bringing up the past and guilt tripping her. She's still friends with them, yes, but it's extremely stained.

Also, absolutely love the irony of Sunset originally entering the portal out of selfish reasons and it ending up being the best decision of her life. When she has to do it for selfless reasons? The worst, at least for her.

Y'all did a fantastic job. I'm intrigued. Looking forward to more!

Rainbow Dash chuckled. “You would say some gay shit like that.”

Love this line. very good heh.

Pretty fun start to a fic! Lookin forward to seein' how it develops, and also I'm glad to see someone out there writing Lightning Dust stuff. i always thought the show rly wasted the chance to have Rainbows rival be more integral. She only appears in like TWO episodes like sheesh! wasted potential

If at any point you found yourself saying something to the effect of "electricity doesn't work like that," try to remember that this is a fanfiction, and that you should really just relax.

Hey, at least Eldi didn’t get her powers from rogue electric eels.

Any writer worth their salt knows writing a good action scene is a pain and a half. Excellent work making this flow and feel potent.

You write Sunset to be such a loser, it's almost amusing lol

once again, awesome usage of Lightning Dust! The show rly underutilized her. Its a damn shame. Great chapter! 👍

A second Midnight Sparkle incident...

I don't think it is Everfree that they're talking about.

I don't know if this is intended to be canon with Can You See What I See?, but if it is, it makes both Rarity's general volatility and specific barbs at Sunset sting all the harder, even if the last part of the chapter mellows her a little.

Sunset shimmer in uno being like: yay I'm winning!

Twilight, holding a card: Stop sacrificing yourself for your friends or draw 25 cards

Also hell yeah more Midnight Sparkle. Nothing bad ever happens with some Mid nighttttt (explodes)

Former Gifted Kid syndrome hits hard. Harden when you couple it with Former Monster syndrome especially if it's probably not quite entirely former.

I appreciate twilight already piecing things together on her own. I also find it hilarious that despite them being aware they might die soon, they're still going about their routine 🤣If I was Twilight rn I'd be climbing Sunset like a tree like c'mon were all gonna die, might as well mack on each other

Good chapter nonetheless! Fun to see human Starlight lovin life. I like that theres other characters that might have discovered magic nonsense on their own terms!

Not all of the girls are going about daily life the same. They're just off screen (for now) panicking in their own ways.

And Twilight would love nothing more than to be all over Sunset at this point in the story, but there are a handful of factors that prevent that. Ones that will become apparent very soon.

Oh for sure! I imagine everyone's not having a good time. very interesting things are coming I'm sure

"its the end of the world as we know it and I feel BAD"

On the top left corner was a multicolored logo made out of three letters.

“TMU?” Twilight muttered aloud to herself. For a moment, she thought this might have been the invite to join Starlight’s multilevel marketing company, but it looked too subtle for that. Whatever it was, Twilight didn’t have much time to dwell on it, slipping the card into her pocket and standing up from the table.

Fifty bucks that this is some variant of the SCP Foundation, maybe still in its early stages, and that is some subtle invitation to join

I felt for Twilight so much this chapter, many of her thoughts I find myself mirroring:

Even knowing how messed up she was, Twilight’s high expectations never adjusted to her lower functioning capacity. Instead, they saddled her with a nagging, overhanging, unshakable sense of urgency.

The constant struggle and catch-22 of wanting more, knowing you can do more, but just not having the energy to follow through for one reason or another, oftentimes it being those same expectations that are just beating you down constantly and leaving you in a state of paralysis.

Uh oh, bang-haired Starlight showing out of nowhere with a big smile plastered on her face? Probably nothing to worry about, surely. She knows more than she's letting on, but I do think she was genuinely confused about Twilight mentioning the portal. In any case, Starlight has played her hand, and Twilight seems very likely to take up her offer and lead to giving up what she knows, unknowingly or otherwise, which will further serve Starlight's ambitions and will, in all likelihood, screw over everyone.

Now, I'm curious to see, like the person mentioned above, if Starlight is the lead of an organization that's all about containing magic, or if she's looking to figure out how to control it for her own ends, or something else entirely. But yeah, TMU? Definitely seems like the title card of the story.

I'm very excited and looking forward to more!
