“She’s the glue when we need to stick together, and the wedge when we shouldn’t.”
I really like this line. Don't know. It's describes Fluttershy well, and I just thought it was clever. Just a neat paradoxical role she plays.
“Anyway, what were we talking a-oh right!” Sunset snapped her fingers. “Rarity is… I don’t know, the mouth?”
“The what now?” Dash raised an eyebrow, looking a tad flushed.
Pfft, ha! Perfect.
I really like the idea that Sunset's friends grew closer together in her absence, and it does make me wonder if they all would have tried to stick close together had she decided to stay. I mean, they would have to because of the magical anomalies, but they wouldn't feel as bad for living long distances because they had a rock solid friendship, and distance wouldn't put a wedge in it. But in this scenario? That'd be a death sentence.
And it's kind of sad and ironic that they all became closer when she left. It's almost as if she's died to them and what remains is just a flickering ember they keep almost extinguishing by bringing up the past and guilt tripping her. She's still friends with them, yes, but it's extremely stained.
Also, absolutely love the irony of Sunset originally entering the portal out of selfish reasons and it ending up being the best decision of her life. When she has to do it for selfless reasons? The worst, at least for her.
Y'all did a fantastic job. I'm intrigued. Looking forward to more!
Rainbow Dash chuckled. “You would say some gay shit like that.”
Love this line. very good heh.
Pretty fun start to a fic! Lookin forward to seein' how it develops, and also I'm glad to see someone out there writing Lightning Dust stuff. i always thought the show rly wasted the chance to have Rainbows rival be more integral. She only appears in like TWO episodes like sheesh! wasted potential
Love this. The idea that watching Midnight's creation was as traumatic for Sunset as her own transformation has always been a favorite of mine.
Excellent, intense start. Looking forward to where this goes.
