This story is a sequel to The Adventures of Flare Brimstone
(It ain't required for you to read the first story before jumping into this one.)
While taking a day off from work to run her shop in Ponyville, Flare Brimstone has Twilight Sparkle, Ponyville's resident princess, enter her shop for more stories about the items strung up in her shop, particularly the odder and bizarre ones. She asks politely to be brought to the back of the shop and Flare Brimstone obliges the alicorn to see the bat pony's more... interesting finds.

By the way, the instruments that are featured in the story are a reference to the GBA game Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced. The black quena is an actual weapon and tool used by certain classes along with the bell and the castanets.
