I didn't actually mean to make the "faith in my friends" angle as sappy as it is... I think I can blame that on the fact that I just finished playing To the Moon and was listening to the soundtrack while writing this.
It fits, though. The title is a bit of a Gundam reference, and Gundam has all the soap opera shit in it, so there's soap opera shit in here too.

I'll admit, I went into this expecting something excessively sappy and insufficiently ass-kickey.
Instead, I found a fic that actually thought out how an aerial engagement would work and what would be required for two ponies to pull off such a ridiculous feat. This was a seriously well written fic. Good work!

If I remember correctly, the artist of the gif (rizcifra on the Dev and Tumblr) is doing an animation in their style revolving around Twilight. I don't remember what the synopsis was but yeah...their work is Pretty awesome

Also, I never did make it completely through a series of Gundam, though I do know what you'd mean by drama. I think one series had it so the love interest was impersonated and the other one was a relative (whichever one had Kagali and such I think their name was).

I'm not even completely certain what I did in order to address your edits, though I surely didn't do much of a job justifying the war. I should go back and find out.
Just yesterday I was explaining the creative differences I had between myself and some of the people who've edited this, and what I came up with was "it's like one level out of a dogfighting game, completely out of context." I think I like that.
I will say that I spent quite a bit of time coming back to this, repeatedly deleting tiny pieces to improve flow and things like that.

Sorry it took so long to reply bud. Was a tad occupied.
At any rate, the issues I felt needed fixing in this story are there still there. However, they were things I felt could be improved upon. I never said they made the story bad per say, just shallow. Really, all you are lacking is substance to really make the world you show deep.
What I forget however, is that you didn't write this story in order to be deep or to build a world from scratch, but more to just tell a single story, and often, doing just that proves to be the more effective course of action. In that regard, you've succeeded far more than I've ever managed myself.
If you ever want to really make this tale deep and grand, however, I would be more than happy to aid you. Otherwise, you've done good.
