Good start for this Division story.
Didn't expect a Division crossover but good things can come from surprises.
The Dollar Flu was particularly difficult to contain because it mutated quickly so a vaccine wasn't able to be made. That being said, there isn't any record of the bioweapon affecting animals so maybe it can't transfer from humans to ponies.
Unless Celestia does have the PPE and filtered masks to give to her soldiers, then it might be best for the guards that she sends through the portal if they could remain as ponies since that could grant them an immunity to the virus.
If the guards are sent as humans through the portal, then they are able to become infected and they wouldn't have their magic to protect them from gangs who have guns.

Considering that there are animals (dogs, cats, deer, foxes, etc.) I don't think it affects them.
Scientifically speaking, GP was 'custom made' to have maximum spread and maximum lethality, so I don't believe it'd have the lifespan to live long enough to mutate to be able to jump species lines.

Zoonotic disease transmission is pretty fascinating.
Some diseases have to mutate so much to make the jump between species that the symptoms and effects are completely different.
I think that it was said that the Green Poison was supposed to eventually burn out, the creator's intent was to leave about 10% of humanity remaining.

This is a partial reboot in my eyes, as this story’s predecessor had a similar premise, but it began at the start of the Division 2 rather than at the end of the current manhunt.
The old one didn’t have the EqG main six, there was only Sunset, and the Equestrians mobilized quickly to aid the Division on Earth.
This story will be different, as both Princess Celestia and Luna will have a few obstacles to pass through before they can lead the Equestrians to Earth.
There’s also more to work in on the human side. Such as the Hunters’ true origins, how the Black Tusk/True Sons alliance will respond to the Equestrians’ intervention, and how the Peacekeepers in lower Manhattan will deal with this as well.
