It has been a trying day for Octavia. Unfortunately, the sun's barely risen, Vinyl fell asleep at the kitchen table, and Octavia's coffee has the audacity to be decaf.

Rated Teen because Octavia says damn at least once in there and because I'd rather not argue about what constitutes a swear word and what doesn't.

Too real. S+. Four hooves up.

2 things.
1. 11444021 how the hell does this even REMOTELY relate to the story?
2. This was a good story.

This story was very sweet and touching, and surely relatable to a lot of people.

It's a bot. There's no actual person to respond to you, unless you count people like me who've seen this nonsense before.

Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Four hooves up? Now that's high praise!

Reported the bot account, deleting the bot comment now, thanks guys! (Almost impressed that I got one so soon after posting the fic!)

I'm guessing it's some sort of ADD/ADHD type medication thing. Whatever the case, loved the last part of the story. So wholesome. In my head it is not going to be so bad and there won't be that many tomorrow's. But I know stuff like this can take a long time to resolve sometimes.

Ding ding ding! There's been a severe Adderall shortage in the USA since about September, and so this was partially an almost vent fic about the situation in general (though I know there are other medication shortages going on rn, and my heart goes out to those whose side effects are worse than a month of narcolepsy), and partially a late-night ramble with kind of a hopeful point. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

One of the reasons I've been putting off going to my doctor is the fact that I know the medication I need is in short supply right now. I know I can live without it for a while longer, so I'd rather the limited supplies go to someone who needs it to function more than I do at the moment.

Hopefully things will be better for everyone on a few weeks.

You know, given the description, I was expecting a much more lighthearted story wherein the "medication" was caffeine. :facehoof: That said, you were wise to not name a specific medication in the story. I can imagine debates in the comments as to the specific side effects of whatever you chose to name.

“So,” Vinyl hummed, looking at anything but Octavia, but in the easy comfort of somepony who expected a lack of continuous eye contact.

i need to find some people like that

Cute. Depressingly realistic, but cute.

Large oof. I lost my first semester of college to withdrawal, so I absolutely know Octavia’s pain here. Best of luck to her and you. Excellent work in capturing the frustration and dread of the impending nightmare.

Also, “Pill Bug” is a brilliant name for a pony pharmacist.

Of course I read this when I'm off my meds. In my abundant exhaustion, I accidentally took my morning meds last night and my evening meds this morning. Thus, my ADHD meds have worn off and I don't have extra; I'd have to skip a day at some point to get back on schedule, so I might as well do it now. It's been a while since I missed a dose, so all of my extras have expired. I need to turn those in to the pharmacy...

Pill Bug is also definitely NOT a changeling. :ajsmug:

This is why I generally don't take mine!

I rather liked this. Looking grimly ahead at withdrawal is def A Mood. I've had to do this many times, and it never gets easier.

She looked up to find Vinyl smiling back, red eyes meeting Octavia’s violet ones for a precious moment before they darted away again. “As many tomorrows as it takes.”

Oh my god I love this

This hits way too close to home

.....brochures detailing addiction-recovery services.” She snorted towards the garbage bin, where a few such brochures lay contemplating their failures in life.

Those things will burn, you know. Waste not, want not. Save on firewood!

If anything, they make interesting tinder, though I might worry how they'd burn if they have too many images on 'em. Can't replace wood with them, but hey, you've got a point!
