One glorious morning, Lord Haven arrived at the shed where Alexandra was kept to prep her for running. "Good morning!" he said. "I have some exciting news regarding your running in!"

Doesn't he mean 'you running it!' :unsuresweetie:

"Why, yes!" Alexandra replied. "Myself and Lord Haven are to commence a great perigrination! An association of thesbians is to navigate to our humble town to entertain the masses! And we shall transport them to this great villa."

peregrination*

As Alexandra steamed past, Charles blinked. "I can only assume she brought a thesaurus with her."

Lol 😂

"Me neither," Porter said. "It seems to be a trait amongst certain people to use lots of big words to sound clever, when in reality it makes them incomprehensible."

Mhm. :applejackunsure:

Unfortunately, Zipp's prediction proved to be correct, and the structure began to wobble. With a crash and a crumble, the tower started to tumble, and the writer began to question why he was referencing the rhyming era of Thomas and Friends.

Lmao. :rainbowlaugh:

"That's excellent," Opaline said. "Rendnezvous with Boomer in the towns square and proceed to Phase 2 of the plan. Funny, though. I could have sworn the image I was given by an operative of Sunny's appearance looked different."

Is she referring to the bracelet or that Sunny's hair has a rainbow streak in it? :applejackconfused:

Alexandra shuffled forward into the bay platform to let the DMU pass. "Oh! Sorry!" She continued fantasising about what the show might entail as she waited.

And the narrator broke the fourth wall. :facehoof:

"I'm not convinced most of those are real words," said one store holder.

Just roll with it. :ajsmug:

"That shouldn't be a problem," Sunny said. "The beauty of arts and crafts is that no two objects are the same. If you just want the exact same thing as somebody else you go to the outlet, rather like that Princess Dress that seems to be all the rage right now." She paused. "Anyway, my point is that you should let your own creativity inspire you. Sure, giving the people what they want is good and all, but at the end of the day creative arts is a personal endeavour."

Huh, is she referring to a random princess dress cause I'm starting to think of the princess dress seen from that one episode of fim. :rainbowhuh:

"Porter! Don't break the fourth wall! That's my job!" Izzy called.

Technically it's Pinkie's but she isn't in this story but thought I point it out. :duck:

I loved that Salty's Lighthouse parody Izzy sang.

Although, what are Harvey and Goldie doing at the moment?

1. 'Running in' is engineering vocabulary. It refers to the period between a locomotive emerging from overhaul and returning to revenue earning traffic, and this time is normally used to establish if there are any ongoing problems. The equivalent US term is 'shakedown'.

2. Fixed.

3 and 4. Such is the nature of tedious and garrulous verbosity.

5. It turns out Sharon Miller wasn't as much to blame as we thought. A lot of the bad content was basically forced on them by the network, as there's a law which requires a set amount of a television station's broadcasting to be educational in nature. This same law is also the origin of the 'dear Princess Celestia' segments in FiM, which were inserted so Hub Network could fulfill it's education quota.

6. Hair. Sunny still wears her hair in a braid, but the rainbow streaks have somewhat altered its appearance.

7. Unintentional 4th wall breaking, then. The intended meaning is that Alexandra is fantasising about the show the entertainers might be putting on.

8. Sunny is indeed referring to the Princess Dress from the FiM episode Canterlot Boutique.

As noted in the text, that is a mass-production gown which rather runs counter to Izzy's desire for individuality.

9. Izzy does channel some elements of Pinkie, but is recognisably her own person.

11486884
And this would suggest that Salty's Lighthouse exists within this setting. Or it's Izzy being random again.

All shall be revealed in a future chapter.

11486992
Well, TBH, I kinda am liking Izzy as a character more than Pinkie.

11487005
I do as well. Izzy is eccentric without being irritating. There were times when Pinkie could be completely insufferable; the 2017 film is an excellent example.

11487065
Not to mention Pinkie has times where she is a complete idiot. (No disrespect to her fans) while Izzy is able to grasp things better.

I hear that Thomlight Sparkle 1 has found Pinkie Pie insufferable in some episodes. Can you ask him to explain what episodes he finds?

11487069
That is a very good point. I doubt anything like the Yovidaphone incident would happen with Izzy. Seriously people, stick to hurdy-gurdies.

11487083
I suspect Yakity Sax is one of them.

11487223
Yeah, that’s one moment, but I am also referring to “Green Isn’t Your Color”, I can appreciate how Pinkie wanted to ensure they kept the promise, but she should’ve realized that keeping something that would help solve the problem secret is not something you should do. And she was definitely no help to Fluttershy in most episodes where the poor pegasus is feeling anxious.
But most of the time, she really does not think things through very good.
To put it in my honest form, Pinkie Pie is a good party planner and a baker, but in other cases, she is way too crazy and a total idiot which doesn’t help at all.

Izzy on the other hand may be unpredictable, but at least she is not as ignorant as Pinkie.

11487381
I think that's part of her character-she's quite impulsive.

11487411
Way too impulsive. I mean, I do like Pinkie, but her impulsive idiocy is a little too much for me sometimes. (again no disrespect to Pinkie pie fans)

11487415
She's a difficult character to get right, which is why I think the writers didn't use her as a solo character very often. She works best in conjunction with another character.

11487423
Yeah, I think having her being with other characters is actually more important for her role, cause I can’t imagine Pinkie doing much on her own. Even in episodes that center on her.

11487461
Indeed. She often works well when paired with a much less zany, more level-headed character, such as early era Twilight.

How is Pinkie appalling sometimes,?

11487613
Aye. And she did well when paired with Rarity in "Putting your Hoof down"

I never liked Putting Your Hoof Down.

11487676
Yakkity Sax is a good example. She continues playing the yovidaphone (badly), which annoys everybody else with all the noise pollution. Try playing instruments loudly at antisocial hours and see how popular you stay.

11487691
Exactly. The posh and the silly (though Rarity is eccentric in her own ways, such as her industrial levels of OCD).

Sunny was so focused on seeing Izzy off safely she didn't notice Misty leaving something on her stand.

It's pretty obvious what it is. :ajbemused:

"Wait!" shouted the station master. "You're supposed to be taking a van with you!"

Well, she's in a hell of trouble now. :facehoof:

"No they aren't. There's vans with metal roofs, vans with sliding doors, ones designed to carry fish, ones meant to carry bananas, ones that are fitted, ones without fitted brakes, ones with..."

Looks like they're gonna be there for a while. :twilightoops:

11487753
1. To us, yes. But remember that we have information that Sunny does not.

2. Can't see how this would backfire.

3. And Ray went off rambling about vans for about an hour.

Wow, what a story. And I can see plenty of references to that one episode with Daisy in here.

11487984
As you've probably guessed, it's a fusion of Izzy Does It and The Way she Does It.

11488025
Yes, down t a "T". As for Izzy's Utility belt she made, I'm impressed with it as I too wear one I made. But mine carries my wallet, phone, a Leatherman, boxcutter, and a Lightsaber.

11488029
Railroaders usually keep all the kit they need in one place. Often this is a toolbox, but the relatively cramped cab of a Fowler dock tank has no obvious place to put one.

In your case, a lightsaber having a retractable blade (please correct me if that's the wrong term) makes it easier to store.

11488030
Of course.

Yeah a Lightsaber with a retractable blade is easy to store. But mine is actually one of those fancy neopixel Lightsabers. From the Pactstore.

11488037
Just googled that. Mind blown. Seriously, there's so much detail on them!

11488155
Did you know that Luke's blaster from A New Hope sold for a lot? The original prop, I mean.

11488161
It's remarkable how items like that accrue value. Then again, that's the beauty of a fanbase. What to one person may be useless trash is to another treasure. As Izzy beautifully demonstrates.

11488283
Absolutely. I could imagine Izzy would be a really skilled cosplayer. She could make any outfit she wants easily.

11488287
Of course, some borrowing from Pipp might be required for some items...

"We may struggle to get this lot going on the grade," she conceeded, as she got back into the cab. "We may have to got quite fast. But hey. How hard can it be?"

to go quite fast.*

Once the diesel had detached and headed away, Porter began the descent down into the tunnel. The gradient increased to 1 in 100 once he entered the tunnel, and speed began to climb almost immediately. Out of the tunnel it got even worse, as the gradient went up to a nauseating 1 in 60.

Uh oh! :pinkiegasp:

Unfortunately, they then began to roll back down the hill the other way.

Aaaand it just got worse. :twilightoops:

"Looks like I spoke too soon."

You think! :twilightangry2:

The trucks and the two brakevans were not so lucky. They rolled into the siding and crashed through the buffers, falling down a steep hill and smashing into the valley velow. Large white fragments bounced all over the place and broke apart from the force of the impact.

Well, there goes their load. :ajsleepy:

"Oh Izz, they accident wasn't your fault," Pipp reassured. "The inspector said that the brake blocks were faulty, and those trucks should never have been allowed out on the rails. Your name is clean as far as they're concerned. Besides, they can get another statue... but we can never find another you."

the accident*
Agreed Pipp.

Izzy looked down and read the inscription. "The people of Penmere and the Maritime Line hereby thank Izzy Moonbow and Porter, whose quick thinking prevented a nasty accident."

How thoughtful of them. :scootangel:

when I take a holidy

holiday*

Only amongst ponies can Thomas find solace from that childs laughter...

11488471
Yeah, that's true. But for that case, she'd need Pipp's help if it involves a Princess or sone fancy girl. But I reckon Izzy could make a LARP or wizardry cosplay easy on her own.

This was a good story. And I will admit, I honestly didn't see much reference to The Runaway Elephant in this story. But if I can throw in my 2 bits, those workmen didn't really calculate the right amount of braking power needed for this train. Faulty brake blocks or not. You might as well be reenacting that one runaway freight on Calhoun Pass with SP frieght 7551.

11488575
1. Fixed.

2-5. Wouldn't be Thomas without a big crash every now and then, would it?

6. Also fixed.

7. Imagine that lot crashing into an oncoming train?

8. Corrected.

11488635
I see another user familiar with Grimdark Thomas.

11488684
The park and the statue were the only elements taken from The Runaway Elephant, partly as a statue flying through the air would break apart on impact.

This sort of braking power issue was a constant threat in the days before continous braking was a thing. It still is in countries that rely predominantly on air braking (the Swiss company RhB still uses vacuum brakes as a backup should air systems fail).

11488976
Ah, I got it now.

That is quite true there too.

11488988
Porter is hardly of a design built for long distance trips (but then again ran most of the way up and down England during the mission to restore the magic).
