Well, that was certainly unexpected. What made Quibble feel so miserable? He spends time at a bar to drink until the numbness hits. As fate would have it, Sombra arrives unexpectedly. Everypony is scared. All they can do is watch in horror as the King approaches! But Quibble... He isn't budging.
This is my entry for the M/M Shipping Contest!
Cover art is from me. (The art doesn't match the story content. I couldn't write all that I wanted) Will continue this next year after the contest, I do want to write about Windigos asking Alice and Bori to save the holiday season using Sombra’s and Quibble’s growing relationship
If it's your birthday today— HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Good job! This was great!
useful trick for a mood like this! love the use of senses here to get us in the mind of the protagonist
i am glad that my policy is to never read tags before reading the story because this was an exciting surprise! classic Sombra entrance, love it
and of course Quibble Pants is Quibble Pants about everything, including this! ah, really gonna tuck into this one. Sombra x anypony that doesn’t take Sombra’s shit is always a great time
the cleverness here almost slipped by me!
okay just loving that Quibble Pants is just every insufferably judgmental guy but that’s exactly what makes him work here
ahaha love Sombra
and… oof! that does explain away what happened to Quibble Pants and Clear Sky but augh, how sad to read. it sounds like a bout of clinical depression. and on top of that, a moment of connection with a child not necessarily meaning one is ready to be a parent. not that the depression helps. (and augh, poor Wind Sprint!)
this does sound like a suspiciously specific denial
and, oof! that is just twisting the knife. wonderful, in a dark way
oh, that is great! a common understanding and connection between Quibble Pants and Sombra, of all ponies!
augh, this really makes me wish the story continued past this point! but it was a wonderful look into what makes these two characters and what could start the spark between them, and if you had to end this between 0 words and 20,000 words this was probably the best place to do so.
thank you so much for this, and if you did have a longer story in mind that this is just the first chapter of, and do write it, i will definitely love it!
This was a beautifully poignant moment. Like others, I would love to see where the story goes from here, but I can still get a lot out of what's written. Great world building in few words, too. Nice work!
