An Alicorn Princess has many duties, all of which are to serve the ponies and work for the betterment of Equestria. Sometimes, this means opening up talks to the most unlikely of potential allies.
The lives and people of Elder Gods matter, too, and how else are these matters to be resolved, except for a cosy chat over afternoon tea?
It goes about as well as you'd expect.
Note: While this is technically a sequel to "Twilight Accidentally Swaps the Librarian with an Orangutan", the events of that story are not required to understand this. Those events are more referenced than built off of.

'did we just have tea with cathullu' it's a trope that is invoked when the hero encounters a creature of mind staggering power, but the interaction is comedically mundane, ie sitting down for afternoon tea with an elder god (come to think of it doesn't Fluttershy do that every Tuesday?)
