With the character getting the job, Suri reads more disappointed than hopeful. It's the wording that puts it that way. I guess it's just me and how I'm reading it overall.

You have to keep in mind that, despite having met several humans, such as Silver, Fortis, Salvador, etc., she's still not used to them, so the idea of working with one disgusts her at first, but I plan for her to warm up to this human, kinda similar to how Crust and Spoiled warmed up to their human lovers.
