I don't know why, but when I was reading the story that the Elder was telling, he spoke with the voice of Maester Aemon Targaryen from Game of Thrones.
11353699 People were curious about this. Having just released chapter seven, I'd like to roll the clock back to chapter three:
“So what’s this Highcliff like?” I asked, continuing on our small talk.
“Never been, huh? You’ve been missing out, big guy. It’s the best minotaur village on the plains!” my guide gushed. Then, as if remembering something unpleasant, her smile flickered and she added with a scowl, “at least, it’s the best since the badlands happened, anyways.”
11355690 Reasonable to assume Day breaker; after all, she wants sole rulership of everything, so it's completely in keeping that if she couldn't have the "bread basket of Equus," then no one could have it.
After all, she doesn't care about optics; she only cares that she is recognized as the superior being. The only way she could have demonstrated that any more strongly would have been to personally land in front of King Iron heart and t-pose at him.
Just a crop-season ruined? Pretty sure bringing the sun that close would do much, much, MUCH more damage to the planet and to all political relations... But that's only what Malvi heard, so who knows what else is messed up with ponies. Other than their "Princess". Or what other species, or pony civies privately, think of such a beyond idiotic "power-move".
Let me know if this sounds about right: This is shortly after Luna's banishment and some sh*thead nobles convinced Celestia of some bs (no pun intended) about a minotaur threat while she was grieving and not thinking clearly hence the idiotic move with the sun. The repercussions of her actions knocked her out of her tunnel vision enough to realize what she was doing. Now if that theory is even remotely right it can tie in to several other possibilities especially with the Equestrian nobles.
After loosing thousands of soldiers to superior minotaur forces, the pony princess snapped and decided to take matters into her own hooves. She sent the minotaur's a personalized ultimatum...
I posted this comment earlier but I didn’t see it so I don’t think it went through, so I’ll type it again. I don’t think it’s Daybreaker. I think it’s Celestia a little after she banished Luna so she’s still younger and less experienced. She might’ve done it as a sign to other countries which think Equestria is weak due to Luna being banished that they aren’t and because she’s younger and less experienced she made some sort of in the moment/rash judgment and nuked the Minotaurs which she probably regrets because she destroyed the bread basket or the area that feeds a lot of other areas, maybe even some Equestrian ones or Equestrias allies which will now have some negative side effects like bandits trying to survive by robbing others that she’ll have to deal with and other countries being too afraid of her or other immortal rulers being angry at her. In the comics I believe the deer had their own immortal ruler just as old as her. In this story this naive mistake which she’ll later tell Twilight/Cadance about regretting when teaching her to be a leader might be what made the sea ponies go into hiding or caused the Siren race to do something to try and protect themselves and accidentally destroy their race like the Dwemer in Skyrim. I can keep talking but I don’t think this is a Daybreaker AU. I think it’s one where Celestia made mistakes with long reaching ramifications like the Changeling having less food because an entire area got nuked and brought down the worlds mood and Celestia’s show of strength also inspiring a younger Chrysalis to be militaristic instead of a normal parasite. After all, look what being peaceful and trying to live life independently got the Minotaurs.
There is a need for Gru presentation meme featuring Celestia and 900+ IQ move to use sun as MDW.

Celestia? Sounds more like Daybreaker to me.
Happy Father's Day that's a good picture and damn she's big
And the back story of the badlands is complete.
I wonder how he took the news.

Hope we get a bit more about what's happening. Something seems off

We don't know for sure though if it was the case Gru meme is not needed (cause Daybreaker wouldn't be the one to deal with that mess)

This is definitely daybreaker

Also lots of calfs coming I bet.

I think it is not a "Sun" like real life stars, and more like a ball of fire/light/magic orbiting the planet like the Moon.
Hipe hope celestia pays with blood
I don’t think this is daybreaker, I think it’s Celestia after banishing Luna but before Twilight. Maybe 300-500 years after Luna got sent to the moon.
What about the other girls aren't there his now

Sadly, history remembers that the brave minotaur's refused to surrender...

I've ALWAYS considered Celestia Evil. She is OBVIOUSLY a yandere when it comes to her little ponies.

Hopefully it is just s*** head nobles taking control of celestia's grief and not her going on a xenophobic rampage
