This story is a sequel to General Amnesty

Lightning Dust wasn't expecting to survive to see the armistice, and that was a year ago. Fiddlesticks knew they'd both survive to see peace and finally settle down. But things don't go back to normal all at once. Sometimes you have to keep re-fighting the past.

Huh, I could have sworn this was a multichapter story. Either way, it was really sweet and the title is very on point, this story is a good lull and the dialogue between the two flows very well.

I read this before reading the prequel (due to not noticing it was a sequel) and was a bit confused by the worldbuilding details, but this was a neat story. We've seen a lot of Fiddlesticks acting as support for Lightning when she's past her prime in this contest, but setting this in a world where everything is irrevocably broken adds a lot. It's interesting seeing Lightning adjust not only to the results of her personal failures, but the changes to everything.

Reading the prequel didn't explain everything about why the world is the way it was, but now I can see this is the Sombra War timeline, so I can assume the weapons and spells used messed things up.
