Fiddlebottoms

"Art forms that appeal to modern leftish intellectuals tend to focus on sordidness, defeat and despair, or else they take an orgiastic tone, throwing off rational control ..."

Chilling. I actually wish there were more chapters.

Torture porn without a point.

Not only does it have a point, but it is obnoxiously preachy.
But it isn't my job to read for you.

Interesting, both concept and execution (lol i made funny). I have to wonder if there would be a way to do both more cleanly and in such a way that it might be hidden from loyalist unicorns - for instance, maybe a wonderful breakthrough in power generation in Appleoosa, where they insist on having their own engineers set them up and operate any new plants. At which point the story could be about a unicorn reporter investigating whether or not they were discriminating against unicorns in their hiring practices, since the ratio of workers is something like 55/40/5 (Earth Ponies/Pegasi/Unicorns). It'd be interesting to see how they've covered everything up, and how they could deal with the reporter - although a memory spell/potion could solve the problem on non-unicorns. Alternatively, we could follow one of the unicorns, whose neural regulator gets damaged, and their escape (attempt?).

Sorry, that tangent started as I pondered how the mechanics of the control could be made more elegant/less brute-force, but realized that since this is prodding early communism Animal Farm style, but with more explict violence and less philosophy and character development, those refinements would never happen.

This is sick and disgusting. Not only does this depict the geneticly lesser dirt ponies doing atrocities to the master race (Unicorns) but it also endorses an earth pony communist regime. You should be ashamed.

Inferior?
The Earth Pony is strong, like bear! Through his mighty heart courses the love of his motherland. Also potatoes. Many, many potatoes. The people's fruit.
The Unicorn is decadent. He rules Equestria for 1,000s of years, and what does he accomplish? He cannot even invent pants.

1429846 The dirt pony does not use magic, like the superior Unicorn. That alone makes them inferior. They also use brute strength, rather than brains, like the smarter and more superior Unicorn.

He cannot even invent pants

Ponies don't wear pants. :trollestia:

1429981
Magic =/= Intelligence. That is merely Unicorn propaganda.
The Earth Pony is best at science, because he must invent and use tools to accomplish tasks that Unicorn's take for granted.
For example: Pickle jars. Ever tried to open one of those with just hooves and a mouth?

Ponies don't wear pants. :trollestia:

More Unicorn propaganda! Ponies could wear pants, but Unicorns haven't invented them. Ponies don't use vaccination. Ponies don't drive cars. Ponies don't go into space. ALL LIES! Pony will go into space!

Sacrifices must be made for the greater good.

you know....NO NO NO NO seriously NO!

I even want to kill the guy from the Video for what he does to the poor Cockroach.
Because this is a prime example from cruelty to animals!

And the i haven´t even said jet that the story is BULLSHIT...

Hurra der Märchen ist Alle...Du kannst ja noch nicht mal richtig deutsch. Also versuche es nicht OK?

You do realize that is exactly the point, right? The video made me sick, so I wrote this.
That is why it cuts back and forth from Sweetie Belle's perspective (in excruciating pain, deprived of her voice) to Apple Bloom's perspective (announcing that it is not a painful process and that muscle movements are involuntary). Also the references to Nazism, Soviet Communism, the video and contemporary American politics. Hierarchy of any sort, by its nature, creates an underclass who are deprived of their voice and made available as targets for petty sadism.
There is also the metatextual angle with Applebloom realizing that her demonstration serves no purpose other than to excite the bloodlust of the audience, and so she kills her subjects and disappears from the story.

2072594
It is a reference to the Heartfelt piece, which was itself a collage (broken fragments pressed together in a semblance of new order, but retaining their disordered nature).

Other than that, how did people suddenly start reading this wretched thing again? The view counter makes it look like 15-20 people suddenly decided to come here and hate it all at once, which is just weird.

2073128

no, it actually doesn't, that just shows an improperly designed hierarchy, because without one their would be no method of distribution besides take what you can get. In which case everyone would be so busy taking what they could get there's be no one listening to your voice.

2074385
Then show me a properly designed hierarchy.
Find me the government, tribe, corporation or organization that is not run for the benefit of an elite, that doesn't create an underclass to treat like shit and use nationalism or morality as an excuse to destroy innocent people that just happened to fall on the far side of the line.
Science has failed, God has failed, democracy has failed, fascism has failed, monarchy has failed, philosophy has failed, communism has failed, mankind has failed.

I'd point to the internet or graffiti, but that is another depressing failure. People speak with no audience, ask questions and get no answers, write and are misinterpreted or covered over by others. Personality cults turn anonymous or dead artists into profit making ventures, yielding millions for everyone but the poor son of a bitch with a vision.
Maybe I'm questioning the nature of "voice" in the first place. That would be fitting, considering the ending of the story (Applebloom insults her audience, abandons her voice and disappears).

I still kind of wonder why a dozen people decided to spend half an hour of their time here.

As to that, peasants who spent their lives thanklessly toiling under feudal lords probably thought things would never get better. I think progress is possible, but it just takes a frustratingly long time.

Edit: I guess we still have peasants toiling under us, and all that, but I still have some hope for the future. Even the lowliest prole is still better off than they would have been hundreds of years ago.

Normally, I would write something about just how odd this is, but this came to mind.

given the exposure of the average person in this day and age to tremendously upsetting subject matter, i was surprised to find myself genuinely upset by this in places.

it's an effective story. Well written, and uncomfortable, which is its purpose. i didn't enjoy reading it, though I couldn't stop. my only complaint is that it feels like it's a bit too much. maybe that's me being squeamish, as the story is quite concise already, but... i dunno.

it gets a vote, but I'm not sure I would recommend anyone else read it.

apologies for any typos or capitalization, written from my phone.

i just watched the video this was inspired by.

fuck.

I don't know why you're wasting your talent on ponies, but I am grateful for it.

Seriously, what is the real name you write under?

This is surprisingly well done. The rating does not reflect the effort put into it.

People generally do not appreciate horrifying things being done to ponies. I tend to be one of those people. But fuck if the world this is done in isn't one of the most terrifying things I've ever experienced. It's perfect.

well that was disturbing, nice read got my like.

nicely summed up, as to for how i found it.
