Well, that was a lot of fun! The writing was playfully snappy ("It was an instant connection" was probably my favorite), Spike's youthful Eldritch-isms were very entertaining, and I liked how the introduction of Discord's deviations-from-canon led into the ending's twist; that was a particularly good touch IMO.

All in all, nicely done!

There's a novel pairing. Now I kind of want to see everyone in Discord's social circle get the Eldritch for a Day service. Except Pinkie. She already got her turn after she nearly usurped the chaos dimension.

Twilight walked into the library of Canterlot Castle, her true home, the rest of the Castle just existed around it and regrettably had to be used.

The air darkened and a heavy presence filled the room. A purple mist appeared before her, filled with multiple fanged maws and rolling green eyes.
SPEAK AND BE HEARD, SEEKER OF KNOWLEDGE… A Voice spake directly into the Alicorn’s mind.

aww, that is not what i expect Spike to be like!

I SEE EVERYTHING TWILIGHT… TIME AND SPACE ARE ONE IN ME…

i imagine Twilight balancing her romantic escapades with living with a child-dragon to be difficult enough in canon, but dang, that must have been way harder with this Spike around!

Twilight would never forget the day the baby Spike had torn his way out of a dead bird’s shadow… and looked at her with love in his hundreds of eyes before squeaking, Mama! It was an instant connection.

horrifying and cute at the same time, love it

Spike had put on his “handsome” Avatar, a sinfully gorgeous green and purple dragon. Every curve and plane of his body promised delights that would break your mind, his scales were polished to an oiled gleam, his muscles were chiseled as if from stone, his claws were mighty, his wings massive, his teeth painfully bright, his face supernaturally handsome, his voice a husky purr.

honestly, this form sounds even more disconcerting to me than the swirling mass of maws and eyes! something about hyperstimuli and the Uncanny Valley

It looked extremely organic, like he was crawling through something’s vein.

that what is underlying the skin of reality is something that looks organic certainly is disturbing to think about

Discord’s unfortunate name and cutie mark came from the fact he was so klutzy, he caused chaos wherever he went. He made basic physics weep. He’d never even had a friend before he moved to Ponyville and met Fluttershy.

aww, this is a great re-imagining of Discord that is as mundane as the canon Discord is not! it makes him seem actually pathetic, even, which i guess the canon Discord's personality would be without the powers to back it up. and it is fun that Discord basically becomes Troubleshoes here

Spike chuckled. “It was interesting, and it helped me know you better, but I think I’ll stick to just being me…”
Discord smiled. “I wouldn’t have you any other way...”

ooh, what a twist ending!

Don't worry, they're the only two who know what happened, Twilight won't wake up insane.

and that is what i'd worry about! this story raises the exact same questions as "Magical Mystery Cure", with Twilight in the story having clear memories of an entire life where Discord's reality-bend was true

though it is too bad, DiSpike was cute but a thousand words means that they only get about four sentences to develop, and that is an unexpected ship that would be interesting to see made to work.

loved all the descriptions of eldritch Spike, who i already find far more interesting than the Discord of canon whose powers seem to be limited to pranking ponies and making pop culture references instead of doing cool things like being genuinely horrifying to imagine. and augh, definitely would love to see more Twilight/Eldritch Spike interactions! so many possibilities there!
