If you're living on borrowed time, do you have to return it?

The Kingdom of Louisianne and the World Seafarer's Union are cooperating in exploring and connecting any ones pony groups to be found at former major cities. This is about the first of the new riverboats, the Mississippi Voyager, its captain and crew, and what can be found along the rivers of inland America. What will Captain Crane and his mixed crew find along the way? Come on aboard! We got room for passengers! (We got a great cook, too!)

Sequel to my Tidalverse: The Fearsome Foursome, which is itself a sequel to Along New Tides. Both of them originate from Starscribe's Ponies After People, a seminal work well worth reading. ALL of them.

The crew get to ride The Fabulous Riverboat?:pinkiehappy:

Frak v Vlad? Gonna be intresting.:trixieshiftright:

11174385
We shall see. Just who (or what) IS Vlad, anyhow?

the three machine guns Ma Deuce I hope. There is no overkill, there is only "open fire and I need to reload."

11174491
Yep, or something similar. Didn't have those type of guns on a submarine. Plus grenade launchers and RPG's, as needed.

Clearly Vlad is some variety of dragon. Much page space was devoted to drill bit snacks in the original "Tides".

The same could be said about the MK 19. By the time I arrived in Iraq, we were no longer allowed to even Have ammo for the MK 19.

11174742
No ammo for the mk 19 has to rank up there with the dumbest damn thing I can think of.
But then I'm a big fan of Hammer's Slammers by [David Drake].

this is looking to have all kind of fun times happening.
:pinkiehappy:

11174805
Yeah. I didn't get to Iraq until '08, so plenty of time for lots and lots of collateral damage and for CENTCOM to decide to quit using the MK 19. Besides we still had plenty of M240B, and M2HB MGs. And plenty of ammo.

From what I remember, gasifiers, especially on wood are tricky things to keep running because the creosote sets if its too cold, such as in the drain pipe, which needs insulating or steam jacketing, or gets too hot it starts to polymerise and coke up, and even hotter, break down, gas up and cause severe pressure spikes? As well as the flammable, explosive gasses?:twilightoops:

Nice side effect wth cutting corners on a river, not only are you taking a straighter line, but you are moving through slower water, especially upriver? Not sure where the trade off is when heading down.:trixieshiftright:

sure sounds like there is a new entity sticking it's head up to see what is going to chop it off.

11181154
going to say no. this is some kind of mind control. :scootangel:

Casimir the dragon? The closer he gets to his hoarde the harder he holds on to it?

Intresting choidce for the second guy, so many changeling distractions, and theres someone of power going to be most upset with them?

Zombies? At first, I think the dragon of St Louis would have Queen Marie’s interest. Now, I think he’ll have her attention.

i do so like a good puzzle.

Looks like we have Dumb and Dumberer doing something that others would not approve of

and yet i am not liking the answer i am getting.
no i will post my guess , spoilers and all.

They have real trouble if theyre large adult Equestrian dragons. Even in canon show theres only a few ways to affect them, without Stare, and thats a Maud class rock, Starlights B.Ass Canon, or try and wrap a shield around their head strong enough to handle fire breath, bludgeoning and claws etc and wait to see if they actually need air to breathe and remain concious?:trixieshiftright:

the plot thickens. and one vary slow / dump dragon is going to bring the hole thing down on them.

Just curious, but what Loa does Queen Marie follow and would a Loa be powerful enough to challenge a dragon?

11200734
Good question, but I choose not to answer it at this time. My research is not complete.

Vladimir is going to be very upset.:trixieshiftright:

Hopefully none of those monsters being cleared have any methods for absorbing or containing dragon sneeze tree pollen? Otherwise, easy meat?:moustache:

i feel really bad for the first being that really truly pisses off Queen Marie and gives her a reason to really flex her magic.
but dam that would be a grate chapter.

11209861
Manticores, bugbears, basilisks, an Ursa Major or two, and a bunch of others. If Casimir is smart about hunting, by fall the city should be reasonably safe to travel in. Coronavirus, in addition to being a good teleporter, has a way of picking locks that would make most burglars envious.

11210091
Her Majesty is coming to find that some folk outside of her domain ARE worth knowing. The WSU for sure, and maybe some of the colonies along the rivers. Now, the Ohio river valley could be problematical...

11210140
this is true but how is this going to effect her end goal , or her real goal. but as this may give out spoilers i must stop here.
Question young man , did you get a set of headphones so we can voice chat on Discord?

11210373

did you get a set of headphones so we can voice chat on Discord?

Yes, I do.

Ft. Leavenworth? Hopefully a guard and not an inmate, though that might make sense for the haste to find the returnee.

Debris field? Theres only one way out alive if you dont have a key, and returning vehicles only do so with living passengers? :pinkiesick:

Oh my i can see the next few chapters are going to be fun.
when Raven has something to say, we should at least listen.

“Good night, Mrs. Harkness, wherever you are,”
Well, it has been long enough. If no one has PM'd you about this, then I am really feeling my age. Because there is no way you got this by accident.
The great and loved Jimmy Durante " Good night, Mrs. Calabash wherever you are".

The rivalry between the University of Missouri Tigers and the University of Kansas Jayhawks was even worse, as it had actual roots in the period prior to the Civil War. A Kansas fan even had a t-shirt emblazoned with an image of abolitionist John Brown brandishing a rifle and the caption reading “Kansas: Keeping America Safe From Missouri Since 1854”.

11221660
Now, how did you figure that out?

Of course, if I remember right, you're one of a bare few bronies older than I am. I remember Durante from way back when.

11221891
I used to listen to him on radio and then later on tv. He was one of my father's favorite performers.
Just to ice the cake dad was born in 1890

Master Sergeant Jenny McLaine

hum a donkey or mule the mare or female are Jenny's i wonder if this is a play on words or intentional.
welcome to the party Master Sergeant Jenny.

i am going to like her lets keep her around.

Im wondering just how far north magic meteorite iron was splashed, given the liquifaction by shere pressure never mind temperature?

11235654
Good question. How high in the atmosphere did it start breaking up? How much reached the ground?

Right now, I'm doing my estimates based on what I have heard about Meteor Crater in Arizona. It was created by a meteor the size of a double-wide trailer, leaving a hole... opens another tab and looks at Wikipedia ...3900 feet in diameter, 560 feet deep and has a rim 150 feet high. Remains of some meteor fall from that event are nearby.

Okay, a bit bigger than a double-wide... hits the books

Hopefully no Andromeda Strain connected to the meteor…

11236769
Nope. No Wildfire or Code 606 either.

so the rock has hit.
and if Jenny needs a place to stay she can move in with me.:pinkiehappy:

Oh dear, Ghengis and hothead v Crows favoured and Old Man Wilson?

And then the groups trying to get things back turn up.

I really hope the big chunk doesnt do a Susan on someone. Then again, its a new lake in the middle of nowhere, how big could Silverstream the Kraken get? :trixieshiftright:

For some reason Im getting this image of Frack working out that he can use small chunks of the meteorite, dropped into his Beam, to make a Boskone Blaster? :pinkiecrazy:

I wonder if he ever heard of Lake Dont Mess With Twilight?:moustache:

Not Frack, Frick. Frack is a pegasus, Frick is the unicorn with the power boosted Chalk Gun.

But, come to mention it, that could lead to a very explosive reaction... purple chalk dust everywhere...

well crap it looks like every super power left is going to be meeting up and not in a good way.

Nice chapter, but I spotted something...

... Captain Crane, Chief Officer Crowne, and Doctor Van Hoosen awaited, with coffee and pastry.

I'm thinking ponies are going to be fighting over that single pastry... Maybe make multiple pastries...?

Yeah. things are starting to look ... interesting. And interesting is good for story.

11256316
Nice catch. I go fixie. I would hate chronic fatigue more, if I wasn't so tired all the time.

If I can find the error...

Pa certainly had his claim marked out. He only went up to the boundary fence of the highways, so he didnt have to keep them maintained as well?:trixieshiftright:
