Lyra had always been searching for her parents. It was a mystery that plagued her for years—sent to the orphanage of Canterlot, wrapped in sheets as a foal, an odd-looking box was all that her parents had left her. Were they still alive? Where were they? Why did they send her away? Lyra was determined to find out.

But as an unexpected letter led her to her mother’s hometown, Lyra found herself sucked into the eye of another storm: her mother’s relic seemed to be somehow connected to an ancient evil, descended from an alien world. The jump gate leading to the forgotten L-Cluster was once again opened, and an entire syestem of ancient nanomachines had been wakened from their slumber. The tragedy that nearly ruined Equestria a thousand years ago was about to be repeated, while Lyra discovered in horror that she might be the only pony that could put an end to its madness—whether she liked it or not.
