A young Princess Fluttershy was kidnapped by the former changeling queen in order to give her a permanent source of love thanks to the princess' pure heart. Having spent her whole life in a hidden tower, Fluttershy, having been renamed Posey by the changeling, yearns to see the world.
Now, with the help of a draconequus rogue named Discord and her pet bunny Angel, she gets her chance. But there is something about that dashing draconequus that makes her heart, for lack of a better word, flutter. And there is something about that kind hearted pegasus that makes the draconequus get butterflies in his stomach.
And the former changeling queen is now after them to get her source of power back.
Will the princess discover her true identity, escape her lying mother, and maybe even find her true love?

Thank you. I was hoping people liked my change in backstory and motivation for Chrysalis in the story. I didn't just want to copy everything from Tangled exactly, so that idea soon came to mind when I thought about who should be Mother Gothel in this fic.
Honestly, while I have read many Fluttercord stories in the past, and enjoyed all of them due to me being such a huge fan of that pairing, this is the first one that I have read after creating a FiMFiction account. And, considering this is likely going to be an adventure across multiple chapters, I am really looking forward to where you take this, my friend. As far as the king and queen names being a mistake, I don't think I made a mistake. Gentle Heart is my name for Fluttershy's dad and Whisper Willow is my name for Fluttershy's mother. So in this story, it'd be King Gentle Heart and Queen Whisper Willow. Hope that clears that up.

I did remove the songs from the film in this fic. You can imagine the songs. I guess these are more condensed versions of the point of the songs. But you might have noticed in the chapter's names, there will likely be a reference to the song in the film if the chapter has the scene with the song. Hell, the title of the fic is named after one of the songs. I might also reference the songs in the chapter themselves without it being the full musical number. For example, in the second chapter, Fluttershy did say mother knows best when talking with Angel and that she briefly sang "When will my Life Begin" when she sang herself to sleep. Those will probably pop up every now and then.
And yes, I did change a few things. I did try to change enough of the film so it isn't a carbon copy of the film, but kept enough the same so that the inspiration is clear.

Also, I'm glad you say Discord is in character. He's my favorite character in the show, with Fluttershy being best pony, so I tried to get them in character for this story. Geekcat and Taterforlife both write Discord amazingly and they are close to how I view the titular draconequss.
As far as Fluttershy goes, she is more like she was in season 1 right now, constantly stuttering and far more nervous in general. As the story goes on, she'll grow more confident and more like her later season appearances. Hurray, character development!

Not much magic, anyway, since those mints were magic, but yes, they mostly used sheer ingenuity to get outta of there. I feel like it'd be a bit cheep if I just used Discord's magic to get them outta there and remove all possible tension from that scene.

I always had a feeling the reason Discord thought love and all things fuzzy wasn't real was because he's never been shown love before, besides he's never had friends or anypony to care for him until he met Fluttershy, no wonder he's become so selfish. Also, before I heard of Cosmos, I did think the reason thought romance and other fuzzy things weren't real was cause he's never had friends or anypony to care for him until he met Fluttershy and I still do think that. Cosmos wasn't exactly a healthy relationship after all, so that might of tainted his thoughts and I think he didn't exactly love her anyway. He didn't really know what love was supposed to be, so if his relationship with Cosmos was love, he didn't want any part of it, so love became just like all other things warm and fuzzy.
To explain a bit about my headcanon for his backstory in the main timeline, I do think he lost his parents so long ago that he does think he's the only draconequss that's ever lived and he forgot that he did once get along with Kay Kay (Celestia) and Luna at a young age (and they forgot about their friendship with him too, so they just saw his as the enemy when he came to turn Equestria into his own personal wonderland). He's still never had a true friend until Fluttershy of course, and without his parent's guidance as well as the influence of chaos, he thought what he did in taking over Equestria was perfectly acceptable, if not the best thing in the world. In the main series, he isn't really hurting from his past like in my Tangled story here as he can't really remember it at all (minus Cosmos, he remembers her all too well), but he does have a tragic past that make his actions, if not excusable, than at least understandable. He never learn or understand true friendship and romance until he met his darling Fluttershy. Anything he had before was either so long ago he forgot all about it or it was such a poor experience that he didn't really get what it was supposed to be like, so he rejected it. I might explore my ideas another time in another story.
Yes, I wish the main series expanded on his history outside of a quipe about going to college, but I also do like how vague it is. Not only does it allow for fun speculation, but I don't think every villain needs a complex, tear jerking backstory to be interesting or tragic. In the main timeline, the lack of a history leaves us with someone who never understood friendship taking pleasure in all things chaotic and enjoying what he was, but secretly seeked companionship, hence why he was so touched by Fluttershy's declaration of friendship at the dinner party. So, I never minded his lack of a backstory, but it was fun making one up for him, so there it is. I think I just like Celestial-Rainstorm's world building too much to not include it into my headcanon, so I did, albeit with some minor modifications, not only to make mine distinct so I'm not copying them, but also to make it more series compatible. The existence of Cosmos in the comics definitely helped explain his feelings on romance in my opinion. If she was your ex, you'd probably want nothing to do with all that lovey dovey stuff either. Besides, I liked her and the ideas that came of it for my headcanon far more than the fan idea that he had feelings for Celestia, but got rejected, so he became evil. Not only is there no real evidence to back up that idea, but it's kinda of a stupid trope to begin with. "Someone becomes evil cause their crush rejected them." Fucking really? That's the reason they are a horrid person?
Since Eugene was an orphan in the movie, I felt like I should've added just a taste on Discord's backstory. Flutters pure heart will help him heal from his trauma, but for now, Discord is all too happy enjoying the cuddles from Flutters.
Also, I couldn't resist the idea that Fluttershy's first kiss was right where his mother did before she passed on and that it was just as soft. She was the first person since his parents to truly care about him, and that kiss will be the catalyst for his feelings to finally be released. I just thought it was cute and very heartwarming.

I'm sure plenty of people do have theories on Discord (I remember the time when it was said Discord was actually Star Swirl quite clearly. I'm so glad that turned out to be wrong), I just have my own cause it's fun to speculate about a character that I love very much. But I'm also fine with what little we got in the main canon, so my thoughts are more just fun thought experiments than me saying this is definitely what happened. I actually have a few different ideas on him cause of that I could write, depending on the story, like him truly being one of a kind that came to the world via magical forces beyond anyone's control or a creation of Grogar, since he is the father of monsters. That's the fun part of his vauge history, the possibilities are, much like with Discord's powers, endless.

I definitely do see him like that as well. He acts above it all, but he's definitely insecure and jokes around to mask himself. I imagine that over time, he starts opening up to Fluttershy about his feelings more, but he clearly isn't comfortable about it and she doesn't try to push him into revealing them unless it's really important and he needs to release his feelings. Everyone I feel has hidden what they were really feeling to make others feel better or to look in control of their situation, so it is definitely relatable.
