Ha ha, exactly! The difference is that you are welcome when you come back.
Really awesome short story, leaves me wishing it was longer (that's a good thing)
I read this story when it first came out, and having just reread it, I can safely say I enjoy it a lot. The prose and characterization were both on point throughout, and the narrative itself was a gripping experience.
That being said, I'm still confused as all hell by the ending. I'm 99% sure it's just me being inexplicably obtuse, but I feel like there's an "Aha!" moment I'm completely and utterly missing out on. The "Time is/was fluid in dreams" refrain feels important, but I'm struggling to figure out how it correlates to "The Tantabus turns into Nightmare Moon and breaks into reality despite having literally just been destroyed." Was Luna secretly in a dream the whole time or something? It's not your fault in the slightest, but I still felt I needed to comment on it.
Regardless of my stupidity, this was a great read, and I'm saddened to see that it's only barely broken the 10-ratings barrier. IMO, it deserves much, much more attention than that. Kudos!
Pretty good short story. Ominous ending.
