Summer Knight

I like to write about ponies going on adventures. And crying. And kissing. Sometimes all at once.

E

Grogar, remembering his name but little else, awakens on a distant island inhabited by batponies. He quickly learns that the world is quite different from the one he knew, and he will need a guide.

Waxing Gibbous, a young batpony mare, finds him and offers to help. She quickly learns that the world is much larger and stranger than she ever imagined, and she'll need a guardian.

They set out together into a world that's still adapting to the return of magic. They want to find out who Grogar is and where he came from, but they may not like the answers.

Written for Shrink Laureate's Generation 5 Bingo Writing Contest with the prompts Skye Silver, Toots, Grogar, Griffish Isles, and Batpony.

Oh my god, this was cute. Hindered by the 10k limit I guess, but really cute. Waxing is a wonderful OC.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.

And yes, I had to cut about 1k words from the first draft. I hope it didn't end up feeling too rushed.

Just a little rushed, not jarring. The story would probably have felt more at home in 15k, especially giving the ending more room. But the important part, their journey and how Grogar discovers this weird thing called friendship, that one absolutely works and is both interesting, funny and cute. Oh and poor Waxing will have the mother of all sunburns. Grogar could maybe use his magic here :b

hot damn :D dude was using it as a paperweight!

I enjoyed that. My only "complaint" is the same as others: it's too short. I would have liked to explore the world and the relationships a bit more.
