Short-tale

Sequels1

T

This story is a sequel to PRN Hospital: Shock and Awww

Redheart couldn’t believe Dr Caduceus would stand on protocol when a patient’s life is in jeopardy. Of all the spineless, senseless… it was up to Redheart to save the day. But it would require her bending the rules of the hospital and her own morals. Could she make a patient worse even if it meant saving their life?

Thanks to Petrichord, RDT, Smokey, Atom Smash and Absentialucci for pre reading.

It’s a nice piece — I suspect the events in the story might be extrapolated from your personal observations and experiences. Nurses, being the closest caregivers of hospital patients, feel and care deeply for them in their heart. This inspires their need to save and rescue someone they knew well. Here, I like the conflict in her heart when she realised the risks. Of course, some of the emotions might have been a little rushed, but still. Good job.

I liked your story, mate. You showed Redheart's plight well, and it was realistic in the sense that in the end, she just couldn't do what should have been done. Who could be powerful enough to carry such moral baggage if things went wrong? Not even someone as dedicated as her could. But the sad thing is, in the end, it wouldn't have mattered, because poor pony died.

Glad you posted this, it's most excellent.

I really felt emerged in the story, you captured that feeling of helplessness that happens when your warnings are not being taken seriously by someone who should care and someone else pays the price.

This story made me feel the need to go hug someone.
