I suppose that's true. I kinda went the same route in Asylum, although in that case the humans were stupid enough to bring equines to Equestria.
Then again, the ponies aren't above mistreating/looking down on some of their animals. I suppose when the sheep uprising comes, nopony will be expecting it even though they should have been.
