FireOfTheNorth

Worldbuilding is my passion, and if those worlds involve small pastel equines, all the better. Updates and new chapters posted on the 15th of the month.

It is common knowledge that Twilight Sparkle was not the first of Celestia's apprentices, even if only recent times were considered. However, what is not common knowledge is that mi Amore Cadenza was not the only apprentice to precede the current Crown Princess of Cant'r Laht. Years ago, Sunset Shimmer was apprentice to Celestia as a backup in case Cadence didn't work out and kept secret from all but a few, but she too proved lacking to the ancient sorceress and mysteriously disappeared. When she returns to find another occupying the position she thought she was destined for, her actions will lead her replacement into another world, a world Sunset Shimmer is well familiar with, but Twilight Sparkle is not. Twilight will have to travel to the World Across the Divide, a world very different from the one she knows. Not only will she have to learn of Canterlot Academy, a militarized school in a nation on the brink of a Great War, but she will also need to learn how to control a new body, one without sorcery at that.

In the same universe as Camaraderie is Sorcery, to be read between the third and fourth seasons (after Chapter 3:14.3). The canon-universe equivalent is the Equestria Girls movie.

Okay, I'm interested. A darker story inspired by Equestria Girls set in a faux WW1 setting? Sign me up, can't wait to see this academy. Not to mention your take on that somewhat silly plotline.

Very Nice! So it's Equestria Girls but it's set in the 1940's? Very Interesting concept!

Psionics in a WW1 setting... now where have i heard that?

Ah there

Anime is: the saga of Tanya the evil

Hmm, given how less benevolent this Celestia is compared to the show's, I wonder if Sunset's fear of execution was really paranoia, or if Celestia really did have other apprentices that failed her and she had to make disappear so they didn't spill her secrets?

but the reappearance of Celestia’s alicorn sister, the ascension of two of her apprentices into alicornhood, and the establishment of Cant’r Laht as a sovereign kingdom with indisputable succession had all put greater pressure on the Lodge to make good on their word.

Hmm, I think you meant the Crystal Empire here, and not Cant'r Laht?

“Hold on! Didn’t Star-Swirl die in the Age of the Earth Pony? That was …” Spike said as he counted in his head, “… over three thousand years ago!”

Ah, I wondering when Spike would speak up...since he wasn't mentioned at all before this, and thus we don't even know if he was present when Twilight and the girls portaled to the city or where he was when Twilight was burgled.

(Not to mention her two bodyguards...no, really, they're not mentioned.)

Though, Star-Swirl having reappeared and died (relatively) recently in secret is quite a plot twist! I'm intrigued at what your plans are once we eventually reach what will be the equivalent of the show's "Pony of Shadows" arc; if you decide to include that, that is.

Heh, you do an excellent job at describing how Twilight reacted to the changes in her body, but I can only imagine what happened when she git fitted at the tailor's...

"Okay, so why are you measuring me there?...uh-huh...and why aren't you measuring me here?...O-Oh! Okaaay then!"

Also loved the details on her reaction to typewriters and refined paper and the like. Excellent details that many other writers may have overlooked.

Hmm, I wonder if the message Celestia sent was from one ruler to another and the Headmistress was simply guiding Twilight along on the ruse, or whether it was a forged document of sorts?

Humm no counterpart to Flash Sentry in this story. Does feel like it could have used an epilogue too. Twilight certainly got a lot of advantages out of her time in the human world here, the education she got at Canterlot Academy will actually help her as a princess. She learned to be a better leader and gained insights on technologies and tactics that could revolutionize the Equestrian military. I do hope we get a second Volume once Camaraderie is Sorcery progresses to the point where the parallel to Rainbow Rocks would fit in.

Heh, the classic villian-gloats-yet-goads-protagonist-with0information-that-will-ultimately-lead-to-villian-s-own-downfall bit. 😉 Yes, the trope is little cliche, but the show also made heavy use of it. Plus, we really get the feeling here that Sunset genuinely isn't angry at Twilight, but more at Celestia, and sees Twilight as somewhat of a pawn, a feeling she can relate to. In some ways, she may actually secretly hope to "open Twilight's eyes" and bring Twilight over to her side.

And, actually, given Celestia's personality and motives in the story as compared to the show, she might not be that far off the mark and much more "justified" in her reasons than the show's version of Sunset. That being said, Twilight can still see how Sunset's actions are hurting innocent people, and that will probably become even more apparent in the next chapters (which I still need to find time to read), and thus, no matter her motivations, Twilight will stop her.

Hmm, convincing them all to be friends again was...surprisingly easy. I'm trying to remember if it was that easy in the movie? I mean, she used logic, and they listened to the logic, and put aside emotions in favor it, willing to admit that they were wrong, and make amends...all within a few moments.

Guess I'm just so used to the real world where everybody's hard-headedness and ignoring logic, science, and reason in favor selfish whims and unwillingness to admit fault has just really worn me down to the point that such a concept as expressed here is just that incredulous.
