A drunken Trixie zaps Maud's pet rock, Boulder, into a teacup and she can't fix it. But is that the really unforgivable offense?

thank you for the entry to the contest!

I can imagine Trixie adding a regular puppet theatre routine to her shows. Probably something like

There certainly is precedent!

I agree, she might brainstorm and use a more violent Punch and Judy type of show, like the one you linked (though, Trixie's would be infused with magic!) to attract an older audience than the puppet show that Rarity bored Sweetie Belle with (in the above-linked episode). :pinkiehappy:

I was actually trying to think of Punch and Judy but "bonk on the head" was the only thing I could dredge up from my memory.

Boulder has no mouth, and yet he must scream.

I screamed. In laughter.:rainbowlaugh:
That’s such an amazing reference.

This was a good story. Trixie and Maud having some drinks just feels…right.

Thank you! I had been wondering if anyone would get the reference!

Maud rolls her eyes in response. "Not as strong in terms of hardness and hilariousness. A weak pun, about random rocks; but, I grant it is an effort."

if you come for the queen of rock puns you better not miss

third teacup in their triumvirate receives some of her strategically splashed tea

good alliteration!

"Watchthis. Hold my cake."Ref

the non-necessity of this citation really makes it

Boulder becomes a teacup.

Maud stares after her. At least she probably does, Trixie hypothesizes that if Trixie looks back, she could probably see the stare.

very Trixie attempt to avoid responsibility, and very Maud response. i certainly would not want to face down that stare!

Trixie gives a Great and Emotionally Powerful explanation of the situation.

great elision

"Boulder has no mouth, and yet he must scream."

nice Harlan Ellison ref

Maud doesn't speak to Trixie after that.

oof, a great and powerful loss of friendship

"I'm sorry, Maud, for you know what, from Trixie."

and that is really fun and very Trixie, making the entire narrative into a story-within-a-story, and the way she apologizes is somehow still firmly centered around her and how she likes to do things, which is a nice touch.

And, Boulder was a rock--a non-sentient near-figment-of-Maud's imagination because Maud didn't have many friends so she had hallucinated herself into thinking she could feel the emotions of a rock

oof! i mean, we all have this headcanon, but wow it sounds rude just spelling it out like that!"

a fun look at how things could have gone wrong with Trixie's teacup spell obsession in canon, thank you for it!
