The fallacy of Mark Solitarism, the idea that Cutie Marks have single, literal interpretations, has been disproven multiple times, either by individuals with multiple-talent Marks (i.e.; Spitfire's Cutie Mark signifying her talent at flying and at directing her fiery passion) or by individuals with abstract Marks (i.e.; Sunburst's Cutie Mark signifying his talent for 'shedding light' on questions of magical theory). This has led some to propose not only that Cutie Marks can have multiple meanings, but that some of those meanings may wax or wane in prominence over the years, allowing a pony to seem to change talents over time as their capabilities or interests change.

Rainbow Dash is about to prove them right.

What's the My Little Pony Renaissance Contest about?

Wow, I like this take on a potential Prologue for the Sombraverse. Great work, mate.

I hope Starlight is happy that she has the lives of so many past innocents on her conscience, and that she caused a timeline that only Twilight could undo...

Aw, thanks for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed it!

That's actually part of the reason I think her reformation seemed as light as it did; what punishment can be fitting for attempted omnicide? How can that even be fathomed? There's too much blood on Starlight's hooves (though I'd argue it was through negligence instead of malice) to even comprehend; trying to punish her fittingly for what she did in the Cutie Re-Mark would be like trying to punish Cthulhu or Nyarlathotep, trying to punish what cannot even be properly understood. She needed to be treated with mercy, not because she was misguided, but because trying to treat her without it would have been impossible.

Wonderful stuff. This timeline presents all kinds of intriguing storytelling opportunities, especially its Pinkie. Your Sombra is an exquisitely imposing figure of terror... up until he isn’t. :rainbowdetermined2:

A great read. Thank you for it.

Your Sombra is an exquisitely imposing figure of terror... up until he isn’t. :rainbowdetermined2:

The might of Sombra is nothing to scoff at, but neither is it all that terror makes it out to be. Break free of that terror and you'll find a great foe, but not an unbeatable one. Glad to hear you liked the story! Also, yes, writing a darker Pinkie without making her Pinkameena was interesting.
