Twilight Sparkle had both student loan and medical debt piling up. She wanted a college life without worries, and to that end, made a deal with a witch named Rarity. All of her debt disappeared and she now had the body she wanted.
There was the small detail that she needed to pay back the witch by giving up her firstborn, but as Twilight figured, if she simply never had a firstborn, then the witch could do nothing.
She didn't expect Rarity to follow her around and try to hook her up with hot guys.

This is great. So nice to see Mono's AU brought to life, and this served as a really good introduction to the story. If you're not going to do anything more with this AU, I might have to ask Mono if she'd be okay with me writing a chapter in it.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm… it has charm but it feels like the story wouldn’t go anywhere if it was more than a one shot concept.

It’s funny you say that because the only reason I gave up on writing this AU myself is because I don’t have time to write the entire novel-length plot I mentally outlined for it lmao

Oh I didn’t mean that the concept had no plot, it’s obviously a slow burn Raritwi story. But to get there the story would’ve had to spend a lot of time beating around the bush with “boyfriend of the week” antics and “meet the other witches!” Little of which would have actually mattered in the overall plot before a switch flipped and “Oh! True love!”
The fluff would’ve been down to the writer’s skill, but the story itself would’ve gone nowhere.

Ehhh, I disagree. Any story could be defined like that. Enchanted Library, for example, could be described similarly: “oh yeah, it’s just book search of the week until Rarity and Twi realize they in love and Twilight is freed” but anyone who’s read it knows there’s a ton more to it than that.
Any concept can me made into a really compelling story, no matter how simple it seems.

But Enchanted Library isn't defined by the Raritwi plot. In its first chapter, the story is defined by an Equestria where the four alicorn princesses have fallen into myth. Raritwi ensues, but it doesn't define the story.
In this story, the plot defines everything: Human Twilight owes Witch Rarity her firstborn true love child. How things are done can be fun and interesting but its always framed in that light.
You're right, any concept can be made into a really compelling story, but SigmasonicX's The Undergrad and the Witch isn't a concept. Its a completed story.

To be fair, my fic was designed to be standalone. Mono's just privy to other details I didn't include that expands the story more.

Reading your comment, I think I came into this with a misunderstanding.
I thought you meant there’s not a lot to do with the general concept, not specifically Sigma’s story. Sigma’s story was a riff off my own conception of this AU, which is identical to TEL in the sense that RariTwi is a main theme but does not define it. That’s why I admittedly chimed in, but I didn’t parse your meant specifically this story, and that’s on me.
